Friday 29th March 2019 - I'm trapped and my back is up against the wall

Morning.

Lyrics - I'm trapped and my back is up against the wall

Not so much the meeting I think as the fact that MiL seems to be taking more notice now and needing a bit less support (though having said that this afternoon will be the third of mine she's had this week) and the end seems to be gradually drawing into sight (as in getting FiL permanently settled somewhere so we can have a new normal). Nice to have a new/old running
companion. Enjoy France - bring some sun back, next week is looking a little chilly.

Another frost here this morning and a chilly start but it's due to turn into a nice morning for running which I hope to make the most of.

What:             probably a MLR legs willing
Why:              four weeks on Sunday
Last hard:      staying sane this year
Last rest:       27/1
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Glad you are edging closer to a new normal lmh.  Hope you get your mlr in.

    What: a walk
    Why: it's what I do
Last hard: my legs yesterday afternoon. Seems if I sit too much my hips seize up and I can't really walk!
    Lyrics: no

Ale nice to bump into old friends

Managed to get hayfever advice. Got an apology from the doctor's receptionist for the way another receptionist had spoken to me on Monday as well. Feeling a bit more positive.

Just one day of work to get through before the weekend :)
    Happy Friday

    Morning!

    Lyrics: no

    What: short run d&d

    Why: plane to catch

Emz: are you doing any stretching, strengthening?

LMH: have you visited care homes yet? I went to about a dozen before I was happy! They vary considerably!

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

    Morning all
LmH - sounds very frustrating but hopefully you will soon get back to a (new) normal!
Snowdonia - not done it although plenty of club mates have. Certainly on the bucket list. Is that the one that sells out in minutes?
Good luck if anyone is racing this weekend and have fun if you're away this weekend.

    What - easy lunchtime
    Why - recovery
    last rest - 18 days
last hard - Tuesday although 10 x 1minute hills yesterday was a decent stretch out. Coaching, so it was more jogging up and down and calling time, but ended up best part of 6 miles with WU & CD.
  • We only have four to choose from locally that can meet his needs Alehouse - one of which is very difficult for MiL to access on public transport. Visited one Wednesday afternoon and off to see another this afternoon.

Sounds as though you need to keep moving then emzap!

    Socialising or racing Gobi?

Enjoy your lunchtime run Dustin - and the chocolate of your choice of course.
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
  • Morning

I missed yesterday so it seems but  another 7 miler and day out to seaside.

    What: 7.2 miles
    Why: Because I can
    Last hard> Tiredness
    Lyrics: nope

But I have booked my break for Easter and entered first race in 2 years not only that but a 5k I hate 5k's and not run one in 15 years :) so of course it is going to hurt...LOL
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.

Ale no as I'm not really sure what I should/shouldn't be doing.  I have been advised no planks or sit ups (neighbour who is v active had torn stomach muscles due to too much core work and has only just healed 9 months post post birth).  Also not meant to lie on my back so limits what I can do as well!

    Worth getting some advice, Emz

Right, I'm off to get the train to the airport.

    morning all
Poppy, such good miles!! I am doing Snowdonia again Poppy. You have been busy! What 5k?
Glad some things were sorted LMH, enjoy your mlr.  I too will now be running later due to an inability to get out of bed!!
Emzap, glad you have some good advice re hayfever, also the apology!! My OH is suffering so bad right now but at least he knows what he can take, it must be hard
    alehouse where you jetting to?
Gobi enjoy the smoke, I am always in the smoke but will be heading to Ramsgate.  Nice run got in already!!

What: 5 miles where I work later
    why: different map needed
last hard: yesterday am and the yoga!!
    last rest: 31/12/16
Off to do a new Park run in the morning - Pymmes park so close to my beloved Spurs....
    Have fantastic weekends all!

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can

Probably still a bit of ground to cover, LMH but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Hope you find a care home that meets all expectations. I'm not racing on Saturday. It's cotton wool time now for Vienna Half on the 7th. I shall be helping out at parkrun tomorrow though.

Ale: good to have another running companion. I find the parkrun phenomenon marvellous as it gets so many people of their lazy behinds. Running clubs can be daunting and some of them are quite elitist. Enjoy France and safe travels.

Em: it must be so difficult to find medication whilst pregnant. There's so much stuff to think about and avoid. Hope you can get your hayfever under control. Also sounds like you have a very limited choice of exercises you can do ... but you must stick to what's good for your body and the little one inside :)

    Poppy: Nice miles.

    Wabo: Happy parkrunning

    What: 11 miles
Why: it was quite a nice morning
Last hard: today felt harder than it should. Typical taper run
    Last rest: 3/3
    Lyrics: no

Yesterday's weren't the most creative choice :) Willlie Nelson - Bring me sunshine. They seem to have worked though.

Lmh- going to the bike show at the excel but assuming no train disasters i have a 9am meeting with Speed at the Victoria Dock parkrun
  • Have a nice time in Zurich OH, hope the back doesn't limit your trip in anyway.

Ditto to Ale in France, that is a speedy M55 you will be looking to run with in future!

Windowless room doesn't sound nice to work in LMH.  Hope you got lots of cake yesterday!  Good to hear an end is in sight with FiL as it has been going on for some time.

Good news on the weight Wabo, enjoy that new parkrun tomorrow.

Hope that Vienna forecast improves Chicksta.  Good news your lyrics worked to improve the weather where you are at the moment.

Weekend is now even closer emzap.  Hayfever really can't be fun at this time of year.

Enjoy your outing to the smoke Gobi

Not at all jealous of your seaside outing WP.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

What: postponed intervals in a bit
Why: much better conditions - wind is no excuse today to be lazy
Last hard:  the intervals might be considering I had some sauerkraut for lunch!
    Last rest: 24.3

    Lyrics: no
  • Wabo  Llandudno Easter 5k excellent news on Snowdonia :)
    ALF: Always a little further
    Miles makes smiles.
    Progression
  • Glad the weather has improved for you Hazel. Unfortunately I spend about three quarters of my working hours in a windowless room.

I am envious of Poppy's seaside excursions too.

Enjoy the big smoke Gobi. Hope the trains work out for you.

I did wonder chicksta - it was you saying about the weather forecast for tomorrow that prompted me to ask. There are only four care homes locally that are able to meet FiL's needs so not too much running around to do.

It's nice to run in new places Wabo. Sometimes I find it helpful just to run a route in the opposite direction to usual.

There is a physio who specialises in exercise for pregnant women based at my physio's practice emzap - worth looking for someone similar locally for a one off visit for advice?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.
