Perhaps! The human mind has a habit of blocking out unpleasant sensations; it will probably seem like a good idea in another year. :)

I'll be sure to get some movement and stretching in!
  • I have signed up today to the great north run. I’m a beginner - not a confident runner and done very little fitness previously. 🙉 what have I agreed to lol! Any hits ,tips and help on equipment I would need guys ? Lol
  • Well done on signing up truckerlee. The good news is that you've got about 9 months until the Great Northern, so plenty of time to get in some training.

My advice would be to get hold of a training plan. There are plans out there for all abilities and they really do work. It's all about building up your stamina and confidence. Don't worry about speed or pace, whatever time you do will be a PB.

In terms of equipment a decent pair of runners is important. I'd suggest going to a specialist retailer and having your gait analysed so they can put you in the right runners for you.

Good luck and let us know how you're getting on.
  • good luck with your race
