Lung Capacity - 49 and coming back from injury

Any tips folks? 120km a month runner who recently had a couple of months virtually out due to Sciatica and trying to come back (aged 49) and finding my lung capacity restricted after 2-3 km - and just can't seem to get over this hurdle.
Been running for 40 years and never had this before and am worried about it....
No other symptoms and general health good and active lifestyle...

Go to your GP, could be anaemia perhaps?

    Might also be thyroid related.

    Hi Colin

What do you mean your long capacity is restricted? Do you feel short of breath, or is your chest tight or something different?
And how long ago did you come back to running after your break?

A few months is easily long enough to lose a lot of fitness, and it can take a while to get back to the level you were at previously. Often, people feel they should be able to do the speed/distances they did before much sooner than they actually can - are you pushing the pace in your runs, or do you still feel it even if going very slow?
