Disappointed with Asics Metarun, any suggested alternatives?

Hello, I bought a pair of Asics Metarun trainers about 18 months ago, I've run about 780km in them (10km, once a week), and they're both split along the insides (see the attached image). I'm a bit dissapointed as I paid way more than I usually would (£200) for them, and I had hoped they would last longer than this.

I chose this shoe because I overpronate noticably, and at 32, I'm starting to feel the strain in my knees. I went to the store because they offered a fitting with basic running analysis (they took some photos of me on a treadmill). These shoes have heel support and I feel like they're better for me than the nike freerun trainers I had previously. I still get slight strain in my left knee, but overall I feel less like I'm getting injured by running.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to these that will either last longer or cost less? And is this a defect in design? The soles are barely worn at all, and it doesn't seem like a good product to me.
