Pain in lateral (outer) knee, but only when leg is bent

Hi all

I seem to have developed a pain on the rightside of my right knee. The pain only occurs when I bend my leg to a fairly extreme angle (such as when I lift my foot up to tie my shoelace). The pain feels like its just under the skin.

I feel no pain when Im running.

I havnt changed anything to my running regime, if anything Ive dialled-back on the miles. (I go out perhaps 3 times per week and each run is about 8 miles).

Has anyone else has something similar? What could it be? Like I say, it feels like its just under the skin, and I only feel it when I bend my leg to an acute angle.

Thanks
