Chicago marathon 2023

Hi

Got a place this year for Chicago and looking forward to it, now that I've got flights and hotel sorted.

Anyone else going to it? Any good tips from previous runners?

I noticed that for wave 1 starts you need to submit proof of a marathon or half marathon time. Does anyone know from last year what the window was for running these times? I'd expect to be Corral C, but I'm trying to decide if I need to race a half in June/July, just to qualify for wave 1 (haven't raced much recently so I'd currently need to rely on a time from Aug 21).

Cheers

You'll probably get a quick answer to this on a Chicago mara Facebook group, or US runners world forum.

Thanks DT19 - I'd tried a Facebook group but didn't get any answers. Emailed the Chicago marathon customer service team earlier today and got a reply very quickly -

"Thanks for your email. Corral assignments have yet to be released but will be made mid-summer. Assignments are made based on the estimated finish time listed in your application. Once corral assignments are released, you will have the opportunity to submit a change request form by providing a recent race result to request a desired corral. We have yet to announce the corral qualifying standards, but typically a result within two years of the event is sufficient (this may be subject to change)."

Sounds like my half in August 21 will be outside the 2 year timeframe, so I'll enter a few over the next few months.
