FGL - excellent - me too! think there will be quite a gathering! Hugs to your friend - I have been there, dreading the day when I have to face it again with this one.
As daft as it may sound to others - our vet surgery has a bereavement service. Its a huge chunk out of your life, we do tend to take it for granted day to day
we were talking about that at the yard, to some people they are machines or status symbols, but to the genuine horse lover they are a best friend and the relationship and bond you build is just something else.
my mare has just come back from a week at the vets. I wanted to breed from her but wanted her checked out first. turns out she had a massive massive uterine infection and if it hadn't been caught when it was then it would have turned into a pyometra(sp). It's made me even more aware of how precious she is to me and how easily things can go wrong.
There are so many things that can go wrong with breeding - even before you start. Back to tales of friends, one of mine bred from a nice irish mare, had a stunning little colt, took him to his first show, got champion in show with him and then he died the next day, only 3/4 months old. Luckily in some ways they had 2 foals that year, so there was a slight cushion. In the same way luckily for you that you had her checked out and discovered a problem that may well have carried on being hidden.
it is going to be an ongoing problem because things aren't working the way they should be. ironically it would probably sort itself out if we could get her in foal but the risks are too high and the chances of success and pretty non existent.
Hey - plodding good week 2 ot the RW 1/2M schedule - I took a drop in mileage initially but wanted to do it properly, I have Wycombe 1/2 in July!! 3M easy planned for tomorrow which works well after a night shift! Off to work in a mo - will be back later!
just been out for nice plod, everything going v. nicely, then 20 mins in calf injury that stopped me running for nearly a year until I started again a few weeks ago, blows up again.
any advice would be appreciated
(Bison slopes off to kitchen, sobbing quietly, to find bottle of Bacardi Gold and ice pack)
Don't run for some day. Just walk. And try to stretch. Do you drink enough water in a day. I heard that I should help against your muscles behaving badly.
just getting back into running and am listening to my physio's advice - so lots of stretching. Guess I've just tried to do too much too soon again! I'll take the water thing up though.
I've just had the satisfaction of up-dating my profile. I've been plodding for just over a year now and seen a lot of progress, not least thanks to fellow plodders and other Forum posters.
Hello to all you peeps I haven't 'met' yet - I'm a bit of an occasional visitor these days.
The Mummy dilemma hits again. Do I make little Notty finish his homework/eat/wash etc or just leave him mucking about on his playstation while I amuse myself on here?
cheers lightfoot - s'been tough not r*nning, specially with Alley-Cat doing FLM and all (I have a theory it's just to rub it in). Actually a bit down about it this time even though (hopefully) it's just a v. short-term setback. Just seems that everytime I take two steps forward, I slip back one. (Bison frowns sadly)
