well if they are pinching our ideas -then RW I suggest a beginners/penguins/recreational runners section with regular beginner/newbie advice and schedules and perhaps highlighting some events which would be suitable for new runners to start with - a lot of the focus does seem to be on experienced or 'serious' competitve runners. theres not a lot for newbies or people running to get fit/lose weight
evenin' campers not allowed to give blood anymore (reclassified as toxic waste), but well done EP as several of the other patients at the unit rely on regular transfusions.
Well done for giving blood Pixie! I think I'm due to give it in a couple of weeks too. Susi Q - 4 miles.. that's excellent. It doesn't matter how long it takes you - at least you've been out there and done it!!
Can I just say.. anyone out there, who is lucky enough to be able to give blood ... please make a point and take the time to do so. I for reasons cannot ... and feel guilty constantly about this. You really don't realise what is important till it is gone...or you cant ...
I know, it must be a bit scary sometimes, running in the dark - especially tonight!! But you should be really proud of yourself for actually getting out there and doing it! I'm lucky enough to be able to run in the daytime.. I'm not sure how good I would be if I had to run in the dark. Do you live in the city or somewhere rural? Hope it's well-lit anyway Susi!! M xx
Pixie & Daisy - yes, I agree, it is so important to give blood - you never know if you will need a transfusion yourself one day, or one of your loved ones might.. I must admit, I don't like it one little bit.. I can't look at the needle thing and have to turn my head away and really concentrate on not fainting!!! But, I force myself to do it! The Mr gives regularly and isn't at all bothered by it.. unlike me!!!
I tried to give blood years ago, still in my teens I think, but because I kind of need all my blood... I am not allowed to donate, and it is something that has always been with me. I see those ads on the TV and ambulances, well... when you got it in you to give, no reason why not !!
