Help I need a training partner

I got a place in last years London Marathon but, because of injury I deferred my place until this year.My training partner has moved to another part of the country. Is anyone in the Bolton area interested in doing some training together?

Is it not possible to join a running club? You would most probably find quite a few training for the marathon there.

I joined our local club this year and it was quite suprising. We have a beginners group (for people 'very' new to running, an improvers group (8-12 min milage),and then other groups that do allsorts of gruesomethings and incredible speeds.
We have ahd a few time trials as well, we (the whole club) are all handicapped (ability wise) and we run as well as poss. over measured distances and the idea is that everyone comes in at the same time (the slower ones going off first, the fastest last) this I found terrifying the first time but it really gives you boost, when you actually overtake people and realise you have enjoyed yourself!
I would honestly recommend it , there are loads of women at our club and everyone is REALLY friendly....and if that doesn't tempt you....we always end up in the bar after for a large diet Coke and a chatter! Good Luck )

Oracle, that poses an interesting thought.. I too have applied for the FLM. Although i don't begrudge anyone an entry into the race, i would feel slightly peeved if a work-mate of mine entered and although they had never done any running before, were successful. This compared to a person who trains hard, runs many races and has been unsuccessful in the ballot 3 years running...

No, I had a hip problem. When I ran about 15 - 17 miles my right hip started to tighten up. In March, 4 weeks before the marathon, the physio I was attending suggested I defer my place until nextyear. My hip problem, incidentally, was caused through not stretching properly and a leg length discrepancy. Hopefully, I will be o.k for next year
