I was thinking about the recent London marathon credit card mail drop, and I wondered how many people got this, and then how they got my address. This is my hunch: They got my address from my application form, now why would I want a London marathon credit card if I've been rejected? So heres the survey:
1. Did you recieve the mail drop? (yes)
2. Have you bequeathed you entry fee? (yes)
3. Has your cheque been cashed? (yes)
I know I'm grasping at straws but I've got to keep my hopes up for another 4 weeks!

The thing is, I had one of these credit card mailings last time (2001): if you'd asked the questions then, I would have still said "Yes" to all the questions above, but I was rejected through the ballot!

But I have recieved them before and have been rejected several times but never accepted. Once they have your address, they have you! It does mean that you get a copy of marathon new sent to you though!

I bequeathed last year and was rejected so this year wondered if not bequeathing would make any difference. Obviously it hasn't!!
I'm also wondering which marketing genius thought that people disappointed at not getting in would like a credit card!! It only seems to have annoyed the people on this site.
Oh well. Only another 3 rejections until a guaranteed place!!

Yes
but I'm not sure what you reckon this means in terms of a relationship between the credit card and the acceptance.
I reckon they've just sold the address list to a credit card company who've put out an FLM card (haven't seen it - does it have a picture of a puffing rhino on it?) and invited a load of people they know are interested in running to apply for it.

But I'd have ticked the 'no junk mail' box if I'd seen it. Starting to get wound up by the commercialisation of FLM anyway!

Ticked no promos box.

Can't remember if I ticked the promo box though.
Jossie you are right it is law to include the box. There are also a load of laws about selling on your addess (Data Protection Act 1998), and in the US anti spamming laws, not that they are worth anything based on the small print at the bottom relating to 'unsubscribe' which realy means ' I give you permission to send me even more spam' but then i digress!
