I was there, I was there!!! But i completely forgot what you said you were going to be wearing and, rather than ask everyone if their alter ego was called 'Candy', i slunk in and out after a half hour swim. Sorry!!! were you wearing FLM track bottoms? if you were, i was on the bus with you!
there are showers in the changing rooms ( i even remembered to take shampoo today, after i spent last thursday afternoon smelling really strongly of rubber and getting some really funny looks on the tube). at least i hope that's why i was getting the funny looks.
Baking Runner - right your swimming was pretty good, you like long runs and you have a brother's ass to kick... i think that you should be a definite for Ironman CH next year!!
Loooved it! swimming outside is the only kind that should be allowed. Not too crowded, don't mind swimming through the odd leaf tangle as i am used to lakes, and the change rooms are clean. And its long, so you aren't constantly turning.
First i have to see if my beast of bike will be able to stand up to some heavy training as i save up of a new road bike. I am hoping that by training on a bad bike, I will fly on a good one. That and not get into debt!
havent been able to get to the lido for a few weeks.
pulled out of the ultra I supposed to be doing as I just wasnt in the right shape - so I reset my goalsfor autumn
been really upping my running and cycling which has been going well, but not had the recovery for swims as well as doing my university course
still I'm not doing doing an tris this year so not feelingpressured by my lack of swimming.
I've seen my consultant about my arm op (nine months later) and amjust waisingfor ascan but there is definite damage which reqires an op - the scan will tell me which op to have.
She said I wouldbe lucky to have the op by the beginning of next year looked more like Easter -which will then mean 6 weeks at least before any swimming.
My trip to Switzerland is therefore still touch and go as I'm not going to go if I have not been abe to prepare.I cant makeadecision on that until I know my op date -
Still Florida 2005 looks quite likely anyway as I should be fit by then.
sounds like a plan! i spend a lot of the time on a rubbish £150 mountain bike with knobbly tires over the autumn and winter. Its still pedalling, and it doesn't hurt if you fall off at that speed.
I'll be at Tooting on Friday morning, and possibly another day this week depending on how things go, if you feel like getting up early again. No sneaking out after half an hour, though.

sorry to hear about the bad news and the uncertainty. bear in mind that IM Florida fills up immediately - if you want to do that one, you'll need to sign up the next morning after this years race. I signed up for it at something like 11am last November and it was full within a couple of hours after that.
if you fancy a different 'late season' ironman next year (if there is one) then i'd do it with you, as long as there's a couple of months breathing space after the Norseman.
but i hope you can do IMCH though. and your swimming is good anyway so i wouldn't worry.
I am going to sign up for Florida -and have been reading your thread regarding logistics- am going to be tapping you for bike carriage advice when you finally nail that down!
Still want to do IM CH just have to wait until i sign on the dotted line - sill t doesnt seem to fill out tht quickly.
- Norseman looks great but there is only so much I can do in a year. i also have a wedding in Sweden in june as well - shame that IM Sweden isnt happening that same week
You are a relentless IM convert now mate - anything that vaguely sniffs of that distancethen your signingon the dotted line - I reckon you are just warming up to do the Arch to Arc in 2006!

for some reason i was working on 36 yesterday. no wonder i seemed to be getting nowhere, fast.
I'm sure you've done something similar in the past.
were the arts more your strong suit at school, Candy?
I did English, Geography and German, so perhaps I *should* have been your Ironsherpa in Austria!
[wistfully places back of paw to forehead]
[pause for effect]
Swimming.
Adieu.

were you not wet already being in the pool?
eck, i still smell like chlorine!
