Photies are mailing thier way to Ric as we speak ... pity I could not have spotted more but I do not have Rich's organisational skills of writing down names and numbers - neither do Ihave his height advantage and ability to see over hills!!
Mixed emotions from me ranging from
'I want to be out there' to 'Thank heavens I do not have to wring out my undies and return a kilo of silt'
Lovely to see everyone today, sorry I didn't catch you all at the end. It was a great race, lots of fun, and my clothes have almost dried now. Not sure about my shoes though, as I have dumped them outside!
Thanks to all the marshalls who were encouraging and cheerie.
hee hee - that as great fun - just love mud and water.............great to see everyone and the Foresters was a great pub - serves Timothy Taylor Landlord bitter - what more can you say??? hope the food was as good for those that ate........
good to see everyone and thanks Meldy, Fraggle and Jon for the support - it's a bit muddy now though....
Petal's ankle seems to have improved nicely - Johnny J - thanks for the offer of help in that final puddle when her ankle went - was very much appreciated thanks, but Petal doesn't do help well - she's a stubborn old bird which means she will do well on Ice Warrior if she gets selected next weekend.
well done to all, good fun as ever, RC it seemed a little longer to me too this year- finished in a shade over 59 mins I think...the only bod I managed to hook up with was Stevie B in the massage tent afterwards!, i stupidly forgot pub directions...serves me right eh?
That was the dampest and most fun race I've done so far! Sorry that we couldn't make it to the pub with all of you afterwards. After the 45 minute walk on the way to the course before the race we just couldn't face adding another couple of miles on in the opposite direction.
Brilliant run. After finishing I was watching others run through the last 'puddle' and was slightly jealous that they were still being able to splash about!
Thanks to all, especially Fraggle for the Mince Pie - yum and Tamsy for recommending the pub with the best roast lunch I have had in a while. Begruding thanks to Spans for making the run more interesting by giving me someone to yibber-yabber at as we ran round.
PS I deny that Spans beat me. She's making it up as there were no independent witnesses, the two lads I barged over thanks to Spans' "encouragement" over the finish line obviously hadn't been looking our way or they would have known to get out of the way).
PPS I think we ought to run our photo from emerging from under the cargo net in a caption competition - race number 701 or 716 on the photo web-site.
Really enjoyed the race as usual, course was definitely tougher than last year (50mins 20 instead of 44.30) and the organiser said it was 8.3 miles on LandRover measuring thingy.Sadly the leader did go off course as we looped back and passed runners coming the other way.He was just too far ahead for me to yell and he hadn't done the race before. Thoroughly enjoyed the final water splash, despite the 'baying' crowd who were desperate for me to fall in head first!!!
Any constructive suggestions for how the race can be improved for next year?

I thought it was tougher than last year, but then a severe lack of fitness doesn't help!!!
oh, and as to the sprint finish at the end... I definitly beat DTs even if I did push him past too people in the process!!!

Mental Note: Next time hire a car!
And I can drive, so there!
