  • Can anyone who's done this course in the past say whether spikes are appropriate or not?
  • If you can keep the things on your feet, then wear them !!

Personally, I don't think they'll make a lot of difference, but I can't say I have ever tried it.
  • spikes no, studs could be useful. a pair of caterpillar tracks off a tank would be even better !! Hope december isn't too clement for this run, I rather enjoyed breaking the ice before I plunged knee, hip, waist deep last time.
  • JFB, this year spikes certainly wouldn't have been needed. Apart from the puddles, which are far too deep to need spikes, the rest was fairly hard dirt. Off-road trainers were perfect.

I was told by the salesman in Runner's Need that spikes weren't allowed in Grim, but I don't know where he got that from.
  • Actually - I think I am going to be washing my hair that day :-)

    Anyone want a number ????
  • Thanks, guys.

Ratcatcher, remind me, is your piccie from last year's Grim?
  • lol Imelda, nice try but you don't get out of it THAT easily!!

  • Hi All
Just thought i'd tell you i've been reading this forum and think you are all mental.

Should fit right in here then.See ya there
38yo 17 Stone not done any running for about 6 months Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha where's the straight jacket.
  • JFB, yes, it is!

Shortly before being pulled out of a puddle by Angelis because I was in over my waist and sinking fast...
  • Did you say 'puddle'? Some puddle!

It does sound like it's going to be fun.
  • So - do I use this an excuse go and buy a new pair of off-road shoes for this event or do I wear the tattiest pair that I own and am likley to throw away anyway?
  • I didn't get any good photos last year :(

Suppose I'll have to do it again!
  • I'd go for off roaders - I use this race to give mine their annual wash!

  • Tattiest ones I would say, much easier than cleaning em after.
  • If you can get hold of a pair of fell shoes, I tend to think the grip is better than a normal off roader.
  • I will wear my tattiest off road fell shoes....how bout that?
  • Hello Slippery - sorry I didn't get much chance to chat to you at the social last week.
You doing the Ballbuster this year? if you are I'll see you there :-)
  • Resisting the urge to re-order the list in some other way......

  • Definitely in my plans, as well as the knacker cracker. Shall we see if we can do a clean sweep of the prizes?

  • It's happened again, hasn't it?!
  • What might that be lovely lep?
  • I'm on a list!!
  • Not sure I'll be able to defend my KC title without the benefit of a weeks solid training in the sunshine but will make sure I've got my lucky socks on :-)

I've just passed my 25m swimming badge - should be useful for the GRIM!
  • Dangerous things lists- you never know what you are getting yourself in for.
I usually try to stay away, but the thought of getting all wet and muddy gets me all tingly!

In a running sense obviously! <ahem>
  • I might be off to La Santa in December! Also doing a week or so in January- I need my run-tan boosted!
  • I've done it at last. I finally got round to entering for this online last night. I know I've been on the list for ages but I kept forgetting to actually enter for it.
