Does anyone know if the 'great2run' course gives the same qualification as the fit2run advanced course that some of us are already doing? Is it just an updated version of the same thing, or a new course altogether?
Trinity - it gives you a BTEC, I rang up the college and checked ... except (and coming from an age when BTECs didnt exist so I may be talking rubbish here) I think there are different types of BTECs and I'm not sure what type this one is...?
It is a completely new course, but leading to the same end qualification from what I understand. If you look on the website, you can see the assigments for it... so I guess you could do a 'compare and contrast' to see how similar/different it is to the course you did.
"Almost anyone can do it but consortium colleges must satisfy themselves that all learners will be able to benefit from the course. Those people who already have the BTEC First Diploma in Sport aren’t eligible. This means that if you’ve done the Fit2Run course you can still do the Great2Run certificate but if you’ve finished the Fit2Run Advanced course, you can’t."
I'd call the college and see what they suggest. Either that, or explain in the answer book why you are unable to do the tests and answer the question by clearly outlining the steps you would have taken to carry out the tests, pointing out any problems that may be encountered along the way ...
I think they've had a bulk mailing session - my 2nd pair of books have just arrived too.
Only took 1 enrolment form, 2 emails and a phone call to get them....
I do enjoy it apart from the waiting in between which I find immensely annoying and does somewhat ruin the enjoyment overall. I realised the other day I couldn't even remember what was in the first pair of books I@d done them so long ago!
Hi all, just end off the 2nd booklet and spoke to the college RE the final part, its on its way to me at the end of the month, atleast we can now finish it off.
Still watiing for pt2 myself , emailed them only to be told they could not find my number on the database. I emailed back pointing out that they had written to me last month using that number as a ref , also emailed me multiple times using that ref and sent me letter with that ref
Ok...I give up! I can't work out what they want for the Q1.13 (Immediate Responses of the Body Systems) I've done the whole booklet apart from those 4 questions because I don't know what to put, apart from the obvious in that heart rate increases, respiration increases, oxygen-carrying blood goes to muscles that are suddenly being used etc...but surely that's the same for all 4 activities to some degree.
I added in my that the one of the differences between the 1/2 marathon and 100m was the body usesd creatine phosphate to power the body through an anaerobic action. Also i noted that in the 1/2 marathon the bodies way of keeping you cool was to sweat, that you need to replace fluids much mkore often than for the 100m. It is also more likey that you will pant much harder after spriniting than you would for jogging. You could also argue that Lactic acid would play much more of a role for the 1/2 marathon than for the sprint.

It's on http://www.great2run.com/ (where do they get these titles from?)

F2R has only 3 parts, how ever they are only just sending out the final; part this month
Still waiing for a reply :P
Yes that the final part
Do I take it from what EP is saying there is a 3rd set of books to come?
