there have been a couple of threads started about Bob Brown the ultra endurance athlete as he is at this very moment approaching 1,500 miles and 36 days into his run across America
he is now over 24 hrs ahead after the 36th day
amongst other achievements he has :
run across Australia
holds the record for the fastest cycle from JOG-LE - Out & Back
he has also completed the "Deca Ironman" which is 10 x the Ironman distances - a continuous event which means coping with sleep deprivation as well as almost unthinkable feats of endurance
Thanks to the forumites who alerted me to this - it is a sad reflection of what passes for NEWS that I had not heard about this until a few days ago!!
Please send him your support
Feel free to update this thread from the info from the website as soon as it is available!!!

Go Bob Go...

i pay my taxes... i want answers!
Forget the London Marathon, that's too easy - put your names down now for the formumite team to race across America.
On Bob's website - if you go into the America Run and click on Diary - you see today's date
scroll down and click on Prev page - eventually you get back to March (doesn't help having the US way of writing the date!) which is where Wk 14 finished
but it's not in the same tabulated format
and it's mixed up with Project questions for his class!
Mon 19/04 AM-10 miles PM-10 miles
Tues 20/04 AM-10 miles PM-10 miles
Wed 21/04 AM-10 miles PM-10 miles
Thurs 22/04 AM-10 miles PM-10 miles
Fri 23/04 AM-10 miles PM-10 miles
Sat 24/04 AM-20 miles
Sun 25/04 AM-20 miles
I like it.
mental!
!!!!!!!!!!!
I shan't mention what I've been considering as an alternate week long run. Even I laugh thinking about thinking about it.
what have you been considering as an alternate week long run ??
go on tell us Dodge
I won't laugh
I'm often thinking of "extreme" (obviously a relative term - perhaps I should say "different") ways to train
If that is possible for you - go for it
Last year I wanted to fit in a marathon training run - 5 wks after the 32 mile Dartmoor run & 5 wks before the IoM marathon - so I went round the Launceston Half again (after the race) - it just made sense to do it that way
what are you aiming for?
my body wont
and i hate saying that
ive just tested it, and it wont
a few years ago I read about a couple who were going to walk round the coast of UK - 5000 miles I think - don't think they did it - yet
will have to read some more

Africa !! it has to be North to South don't you think ??
I have a book written by a guy who did just that - but on a bike in the 60s (goes off searching for book)
I know he writes in the intro that he doesn't think it would be possible now cos of the politics
I've been copying some bits of - the JOGLE run had to be abandoned after 300 miles cos he got injured - no more details although he said he was on schedule & devastated

"We think the temperature is about 101ْF today so it is getting back to what we think is normal. We have had an extremely favorable spell of cool weather."
Bob said of the 3000 miles run across Australia:
"it is the equivalent of running 2 London marathons every day for over 2 months - in a sauna"

btw - It's the race organiser being "quoted" above from the daily report
whether it is correct or not does not really matter he is running across america so must be quite emotionally fragile at the moment.
