Greetings all. I probably ought to revise my target after doing 2.07 at Imber yesterday - not sure how I managed that, I was supposed to be taking it easy and until the last 3 miles I felt like I was.
In theory Reading should be easier, even if the scenery isn't as pleasant, cos there were some loooong slow hills at Imber, particularly after 9 miles, and there was no crowd support and I was running pretty much on my own for most of it (only around 200 runners).
So, I think 2.00 is a little over optimistic so I'll for 2.05 as a realistic target.
Hello again Peeps! Just thought I'd log on B4 Sat to confirm that Gill and i will defo be there at Hol Inn 8pm for Nino's at 8.30.
In my buildup f or FLM did an 18 miler this weekend - oop hill and dahn dale as they say around here. What a hilly run it was 2!! Still, I did it in 2.45 so looking gud!
Strange thing tho, seem to fall into bed at 9pm and sleep thru!! Vat ees wrong? Clean answers on a postcard pleez.
Looks like a few of us going for 1.55-1.59! It's going to be interesting to find out how much quicker Reading is compared to Imber. Foxy and Badger...Are you up for it ?
Josie J. Any suggestions for food after the race ?
Well after all this competition, I've got to reduce my estimated 2:00 to 1:59 to join the pack. After 2:00:16 for the Wokingham 1/2, I should be able to stick with the URWFRC group.
The worst thing about Kendrick Hill (~3m) is that it's long straight and wide, so you hit the bottom and you can see a mile or more of people strgling along ahead of you, and it gets steeper the nearer the top you get.
It's not as bad as the 'old' Reading 1/2 route which had this hill at about 10 miles. I remember the days when ... [drifts off into memories of 1:38 pb in about 1988]
Hi All I have a 2.5 metre high VW Motorcaravan that I had planned to arrive in on Sunday. Reading Borough Council tell me that all their car parks have height restrictions at 6ft 9in (so much for going metric). I have contacted the race orgainisers about this by email and have yet to receive a response. Has anybody got any ideas where I could park.
EP Thanks for your help it is much appreciated. If I have got it right thats Napier Road and I will give it a try. If you see a silver VW Transporter Hi-top motorcaravan going round in circles on the one way system it could be me, lost. Seriously, It should be OK and once again thankyou. May the running gods look favourably on you on Sunday and give you a massive PB.

are you doing reading next week (sorry if you have already answered this in the thread, but too long to read)?
Shame about vestan-pants I liked the name :-)

He said a drop out rate (DNS) of 25-30% is typical and thats's what they expect out of 9500 entries at Reading.
That surprises me, once I've paid my entry fee I intend to turn up except for things like serious injury, or blizzards(!).

What time and where are we meeting on Saturday night? Are we meeting somewhere before the restaurant?
And, where are we meeting after the race, which pub?
(Or is that three questions?)
Cheers
