Barkles, are you talking about the carpet over the cobbles in the LFM?
I didn't realise they did roll the carpet up, if that's what you mean. Mind I found it easier to run off the carpet so I could see where to place my feet on the cobbles.
I preferred the cobbles - I tried the carpet, but it wasn't as shock absorbing as you'd hope for, plus it was very crowded. The cobbles was quicker to run on.
I did think that the challenge of the cobbles wasn't as great as I'd feared - they always talk about it on the tv - but it's no worse than any other bit of the course.
No - hang on - it's much easier than running through the sticky lucozade feed stations !

Like hilly I run on the cobbles - at least I can see where my feet are going, you don't know what horrors the carpet covers up.....
