Jane M: I'm doing my best to make up on the wine & coffee.
Hippo: What's a CBA? Not sure about the post mara low, I'm still on a high with the memories & looking forward to the next. btw, your comment about the ghost sounds a bit rude to me:>}
Hope everyone's recovering OK and not feeling too down now. Haven't run again yet as I've got a funny twinge in me hip which I don't want to risk irritating.
Can anyone tell me where the information is about next year's race? I can't find anywhere that mentions it - I really want to do it again. One marathon is not enough!
Plodding hippo. I have just read you race review and totally agree. I nearly got lost mile 24 to 26. I was too busy concentrating on getting my rhythm at the start. I nearly had to ask someone - I cost me at least an hour!!!
All the same fantastic race / day and mini break for me. Thanks to everyone on route for their support and to those at the drinks stations. See you next year!
It was those kids messing about with the signs! the worst bit was right at the finish I got to safeway-and didnt know if the finishwas at the Nevis centre or the petrol station
and yes i KNOW it said in the route-but after 6 hours out in the heat you cant think-you need an OBVIOUS arrow/tape saying finish
Thinking back I did have my GPS thing on my arm so I could have followed the breadcrumb trail - if I'd had the mental/physical strength. But that's a little extreme for a road race?
Legs are feeling good again, but I haven't tried to run yet! Managed a swim yesterday morning and would have run last night but I was out at a dinner at the Natural History museum in London which was quite cool! Will probably wait for the weekend to run again now.
FLM and Lochaber clash? whoose daft idea is that? Decisions decisions oh hell what to do? I think Lochaber will come through on top. It was good cycling there, big turn out from my club, friendly atmostphere, possible fast time, costs less. All I require is same fantastic weather (sorry all those who suffered but I used to suffer too ie Prague 2002 23 degrees.) Going for 3km sprint tonight in Aberdeen with Metro.
I'm surprised they are going for the same day as FLM, traditionally they're always the following week (as Stratford). No contest though, I'd choose Lochaber every time.
Nessie - you could always defer your FLM place and use it the following year.
Running for Beer - thanks for the info. I should have looked there first - but I frequently need someone to point out the bleeding obvious!
Hippo - would love to travel to do the races other people talk about, but we run our own business and I have to stay close in case yet another crisis arises
The Count and other fast people - respect!
My time was actually a couple of minutes slower than I was told, but I don't care! I'm a marathon runner! I'm so happy!
Nessie - FLM depends on what's on in London so the date can vary by 3 or 4 weeks. I think Lochaber and Stratford will want to change their date, Stratford may have a problem as the 30th April will be a bank holiday weekend, not sure if that's a BH in Scotland too.
As you have 'other plans' then you'll have to do FLM. I will also have to enter FLM as I have some more girls in my WRN group that want to do their first marathon. With a bit of luck I won't get in and I can head for Lochaber.
Loch Ness rescheduled their marathon last year making it a week later because it clashed with GNR. I would like to see Lochaber moved so I can do both.
The Count ..... Reccommend Rotterdam but its usually the same date as Paris and since Paris is going to be 25th anniversary 2006 Im probably going to go there instead of Rotterdam. Did it 2003 and it is a superb event. Also thinking of cycling to Edinburgh Marathon same morning. Going to put it to David H but on road bikes not the tandem as I want to return by train and tandem is too big. Prague in 3 weeks ....... Oh life is great

Kids hey? At least we didn't get stoned?
Cool
See you there again some time.
hippo: should have joined us for the pre race reccie. Mind you, I was still a bit unsure exactly where to stop.
Might do both, could even join EEyin in Rotterdam as well....bugger it...lets cycle to all 3 events and back!
<sulk>
(TC - I know you are fast and tuff, but FLM in the morning and Lochaber in the afternoon????)
Can we get a helicopter sorted?

Maybe we should e-mail the Lochaber organisers en masse and ask them to reconsider their date )
Deferring is an option Shades, but I have Other Plans for then, so it may not be possible.
