well Im definitely watching it-im just not sure that with so much sport that they will show the whole of the race - will have to find someway of watching the whole race on live feed
Jo Pavey looked like she coped with the conditions well - some of the guys in the 10k looked to be struggling with it - i know it was a faster race but even so i was worrying about Paulas race warching that
Agree, the Africans clearly outclassed the rest of the world. Anybody seen Dathan Ritzenhein? The guy was already walking after 5000m!
I am bit disappointed with the support, there seems to be hardly people in the stadium, half empty! Already realised this during the cycling road race.
i think it will be supported - saw some clips of the start of the route in Marathonas - they all seemed very proud to have the race there - i think the stadium may be where most people will be
in a way i prefer watching on tv as at least i can see the whole of the race instead of just one flash as they go past
That is how important the Olympics should be, reminded me of Derek Redmond at Barcelona. Puts most of the other athletes in the shade for commitment. Superb performance on a morning of superb performances.
It's easy to forget the magnitude of what Pinsent has done as Redgrave has got golds at five successive games, but it's still an awesome achievement. Redgrave got huge plaudits for getting four golds.
Apart from those two I can only think of Al Oerter (sp?) who's got golds at four games.
I think it is performances like the rowers that shows what a mockery things like synchro swimming are. How can you possibly say prancing about with a ribbon or riding a horse makes you an Olympian when you see the effort expended by Pinsent, Cracknell, Coode and Williams.
Dodge - I think you have to be very fit and strong to do syncro swimming, but I agree about the prancing about with a ribbon !
I think any sport should be allowed as long as the Olympics is the pinnacle of achievement in that sport. The tennis players obviously don't give a monkeys about it, and the world cup is far more important for the footballers, so why the hell are there?
You have to be fit and strong to be a hod carrier, shouldn't make it an Olympic event though. Synchro swimming is about making pretty patterns in a pool and seems to me to be as much a sport as ballroom dancing. You could argue that climbing is more of a sport than synchro swimming but it's not even in the Olympics.
What's with the table tennis doubles?? I'd never paid attention to this before. I just can't take it seriously as an olympic sport! (Sorry to all you table tennis aces out there).
Comments
will try if its live for the whole race !
Jo Fenn has just run well in 800 too
Yes; both looking nice and comfortable. Just hope Kelly doesn't pick up any injury.
Sonia O just made it in

i think most of the finals are sold out but still tickets left for a lot of qualifying events
target was something like 3.4m tickets sold out of 5.2m which is sad
just a pity the accomodation was so expensive
Maybe less tourists in Athens, fear of terrorism, though the organisers seem to handle security quite well.

bronze silver and a gold in the rowing
wonder why GB rowers are so succesful - must be something in the training/ system that makes it work
sniff
and no Yanks or Aussies on the podium for once ;-0
Big girls blouses have feelings too you know.
Superb!

FANTASTIC
cant even type!!
Super race, they will possibly win BBC Sports Personality of the year award (best team).
