Oh my WM, what have you done image, full scale grovelling is obviously required image.  I'm sure you'll be forgiven.

Ouch Cinders, the finger in the eye trick - well it worked didn't it

    Evening booze threaders

Glad the wedding went well  Apps.  There is much to be said for a bride and a bride, just imagine, toilet seats down.  I could almost convert.   Seriously though its great when someone finds happiness, and with whom is irrelevant.  My aunt  has a female partner, and they are the relative to seat near at a family function!  Laughs all the way.

I feel you need to confess your sins WM.  My hubby forgot my birthday, and didnt arrange any cards from the kids- it couldnt be worse than that, could it?

I looked at those clocks last winter SL - great idea, but very pricey.

Where is RD and her report...............?

After a week that sucked, I just heard my father has cancer, and we're waiting now to hear how far its got.  Its my mum I feel sorry for, he really can be terrible.

Thats it now, i refuse to  receive any more bad news, only happiness and light in my directionimage

Ran for 30 minutes on the tread at the gym and have lost the confidence in running outside again as Im too fat.   The darkness of the mornings is going to have to be my time for awhile.

Have eaten better today, and already my mood has lifted.  Why do we put rubbish in our mouths when it only gives us a moment of pleasure, but we have to live with the consequences, and lets not even start on the booze.

On the plus side though, this weekend I hit my 2 year sobriety birthday.  Amazing that i have got this close, as I have nearly thrown it all away so many times.

Massive congratulations HTF.  Really sorry to hear about your dad, hope all goes well for him and also hope he dosen't give your mum a hard time!.

I did just write a long post but somehow managed to lose it image.

    And where is RD?????????

    sorry!! i'm here!!!

abingdon was fantastic!!!! such a good marathon - i can't recommend it highly enough.

and i got a shiny new pb image

4:14:58 to be precise. a very happy bunny indeed.

so sorry to hear about your dad, htf, hope it's all ok. and a massive well done for your 2 year anniversary.

    wedding sounds lovely, apps image

hope you're out of the doghouse soon, wm!

did you manage to get out for a run, sl?

hope you get a better night's sleep tonight, cinders!

Sorry to hear about your dad HTF.

Well done on both the treddie run and the 2 years, that's something to be so proud of.

Well done RD, absolutely cracking time imageimageimage

Am ready to lob things at noisy neighbours tonight!!!

  • Options

My word RD - are you sure you ran and didnt fly?.  Amazing time!

Maybe we should all head for Abingdon next year and make it the thread marathon.

Apparently its flat, so thats a tick in the box for me.

I remember looking up the thread on its ages ago, and the one worry I had about it was that Hipps said if you were a slow runner, you may well be on your own.  I'd worry they'd packed up and gone home if I didnt have some people around meimage

  • Options

it is pretty flat - though not completely. there are a couple of long slopes but nothing that would affect your legs. and you do have to go under a road in the 25th mile and getting up the other side at that point hurt!

there is a 5 hour cut off but they don't enforce this too rigorously - i think the last person was in at about 5:25. they did take at least one runner off the course tho - but she got to mile 20 water station at 5 hours so had another 60-90 minutes to go.

but it was fanatastic. you start and finish at the running track which has a little stand so there are lots of people clapping and cheering image

i definitely plan to be back next year!

Sounds a nice event.  Nice idea of a thread outing too, I'd be keen.
  • Options

Sounds like a good idea - a nice thread outing image.  It'll be great for you HTF after Beachy Head - just to prove to you that Beachy Head isn't your average marathon!  What do you reckon WM, are you up for it too, you'll have plenty of time to train image.

Really fantastic time RD, I wonder what the chances of me getting a pb are - I think it'd be fair to do it by age category seeing as I got my marathon pb in 1992!  If I use that method then I've got to beat 4:59!

Not been out for a run yet, I've been feeling sick with an upset tum, there's a bit of a bug going round image

    Hi chums,

Decided to really naughty this morning and downloaded a load of music onto my new MP3 player rather than go out in the cold at 5am!! Still, not going to get away with it as I'm off out tonight instead, so it'll still get done.

Well done on the big two HTF They tell me the first 50 are the hardest image As for nearly falling off .. well the fact is ... you didn't and that's all that counts. So well done and enjoy your meeting. One thing I loved about teh States was how they made such a big thing about AA birthdays. I have loads of birthday medallions and happy memories of sobriety parties (however, we won't talk about the times when my sponsor and I hid under the trestle table eating a whole cheesecake between the two of us!)

As for my sins ... well I suggested that Alison should get her *** into gear (not knowing she was unwell and had a nasty ear infection). I think we call that a heap big boo boo!! Anyway, she knows I'm sorry - I'm usually a lot more considerate. Right now I'm trying to be extra nice - think it's paying off ... she's starting to soften image

Well done all those who recently ran - some great times there too!!!

  • Options

Oops WM, a real faux pas!  Just because we females don't go on about it dosen't mean we aren't feeling it - you're supposed to have developed a sixth sense to detect these things image.  Lots of cups of tea and fussing should make her feel better.

I'm feeling a little better this evening so I might head off out, it's only 2 miles so it wont take long - well it'll take me longer than most but still not hours.  If not I'll just leave it and do 3 tomorrow instead.

Bad WM, sounds like some grovelling was def needed there!!!

Glad you're feeling better SL, little jaunt out might get you a bit of fresh air but see how you go.

It was rather fresh here, just back in from 3 miles along the sea front, so  windy I lost my hair band, just got swept away so had the mad hair woman look!!!

Also my trainers fell apart but that was not wind related, poor things.  Oh well, think some retail therapy in order tonight while Mr C out playing some footie image

  • Options

Not feeling too great after having something to eat, still a bit queasy so I'll leave it for tomorrow.

I suffer from the mad haired woman look every day Cinders, I desperately need a hair cut, not had the time or money to get it done properly but will see to it soon.

My daughter's just signed the tenancy for her flat today, its really big and nice for a 1 bed place and in a lovely location overlooking fields AND she's only up the road from us image.  I'm pleased she's nearby but I get the feeling it's gonna be expensive!

  • Options

Expensive? I'd count on the fact that you will never retire and that everything you thought you owned actually belongs to the kids. The only things I'm allowed are the cat and the bills!!! Twitch has now decided he doesn't want to be a chef any more and would like to go to Uni next year to study hotel maangement and then maybe specialise in resort management later. When I said "Oh good - we'll be able to get cheap holidays", he replied "I'm not sure about that" .. Typical you raise them .. nurture them .. mess up their brains ... feed them garbage and what thanks do you get?

Just back from a 4-miler .. not used to running late at night. Although, having said that it's exactly like running at 5am - dark ... and painful!

Well done on the 4 WM.  Can't believe that next week we'll be plunged into darkness even earlier image

Does sound expensive SL, hope it works out for your daughter.

Are you feeling any less queasy tonight?

  • Options

Well done on the dark 4 miles WM, I've got a dark 3M planned for tonight.

I was going to reply that the only things I own are the dogs and the bills but my darling daughter informed me last night that she's going to 'borrow' one for a few nights when she moves in to stop her being scared image, what if the doggie dosen't want to go!

Feeling much better now thanks, a few strange stomach cramps but the sicky feeling has gone.

I've asked for a whole list of furniture and kitchen stuff on freecycle, not had any replies yet but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Must go to work now, Dx

Glad you're a bit better SL.

Good luck with freecycle, its such a good thing.  I've got a couple of Thomas' items to put on as they won't sell.

    Rainy and cloudy day today.

    morning!

sporadic pooter time for me at the moment - laptop is kaput so it's fighting for the main computer. but i'm the only one in today so all is well image

well done on the runs cinders and wm!

good news about your daughter, sl, hope she settles in ok. glad you're on the mend.

having a massage soon - legs are still achey. then off for a pootle round the cv equipment in the gym. then a dog walk in the forest.

    happy wednesday all image

    Happy Wednesday RD image

Massage and dog walk sounds nice.

Just took Thomas for a splish splosh in the pool, we hadn't been for a few weeks but he seemed to still enjoy.   Making leek and potato soup for lunch.

    Evening folks

oooh RD, a nice massage, I'd love one of those right now, so long as it's not a sports massage, that could be painful right now.

Finally got out this evening for 3 miles with Sassy dog, Molly's almost at the end of her season so she can come out again next week, she looks all sad and left out when I go without her.   It was dark when I went out but I've got a flourescent armband with red flashing lights on it so I put it round the dogs neck, she looked like she should be on top of the christmas tree!

Finally got paid yesterday and got some decent food in the fridge.  I had a lovely banana, raspberry & spinach smoothie for breakfast and lunch (it made about 3.5 pints!) and just had a huge salad with a jacket spud for dinner - yummy yummy yummy.  I'm full to bursting now so why is Cinders' leek & potato soup making me salivate???

    Hope everyone is well tonight

    Dx

    Wokingham online entries are openimage

HTF - will you put a date in your diary to give me a nudge at the end of the month, things are still very very tight here!
  • Options

Not a problem - its expensive moving!

I have a sore throat, my right IT is giving me a niggle, and the weather forecast is not great i hear for Saturday.  What the chances of me being on the start line for Beachy, baring in mind I look like crap and havent run further than 13 miles.image?

The upside is hubby is home tomorrow, and I have Friday off work as we have an inset day, and then its half term - At last........

    *waves to HTF*

Roll on the end of the month, I want to enter Dover and Paddock Wood halves.

Sending you some positive vibes for Beachy HTF  image

  • Options

HTF, you'll find these niggles always appear just before a marathon.  It tends to be part sods law and part psychomatic - it's not just you - it happens to most people.  That said,  I'd still go for it but approach it not as 'my 1st proper marathon' but more as a unique distance challenge that you want to enjoy regardless of how long it takes.  It's supposed to be a beautiful course, I did a little part of it last year when I did the South Downs 100m Relay.  I would say that if the weather is just going to be showers and a bit cloudy then it's probably worth the experience, but if it's going to be chucking it down and howling winds then maybe give it a miss this year and we'll try again for next as it'll be miserable.

If you decide not to do it why not enter Brighton or Shakespeare then we can all 'train' together.  Brighton is a week before VLM, it's a bit pricey but it's the inaugeral one so it'll be special.  Shakespeare's on the same day as VLM.  It'll be good to have a an alternative to aim for.

By the way - I thought inset days were supposed to be for training image

ps.  I'm working from home today so will do my 'monday' run when I take a lunch break image

Must be something in the air for plods today.  Mr C said he wants to come out with me during his lunch break after I've dropped Thomas off at nursery!
  • Options

The sun's just popped out, I think I;ll get my shoes on and go quickly before the clouds come over again image.

Have you been out yet Cinders?

HTF - Just seen the weather forecast for Saturday, not looking too good is it, shame it's not on Sunday as the weather looks nice then.

    CindersCinders ✭✭✭

Just back in SL, did a nice 3.1 miles with Mr C along the seafront.

    Enjoy your plod image

I just did a little 2 miles to make up for monday, didn't want to do any more  as I've got a 3 miler tomorrow, and no such luxury as a nice flat seafront to run along, just hills and more hills image.
