I'm going back to work on Monday after 3 months off. Only going part time. I used to slate the firm I work for but they have been absolutely fantastic.
I ran both this race and the Brass Monkey in 2004. In 2005 it will be just this one. I know the BM is very popular but for some reason I found the Brass Monkey course itself a bit boring and did not have a very good run. Anyway, I have printed off the form for the Helsby race and it will be in the post tomorrow.
Barbara, I remember you doing sub 2 hours on that cold day. (Looking back I see my comments on that race said 'A cold day but good for running. A touch of sunburn!') I also remember I graciously allowed you to buy me a burger and a cup of tea. What a gent I am!
This race comes a week after my birthday. I hope I improve with age!
Hi, chums! The 4 Villages is on 23 Jan. 2005 - picked up the form at the Deestriders MT Grand Prix at Shotton last night. Book early to avoid disappointment! A real belter and just what's needed to kick-start your Flora London Marathon push.
The entry form does not say anything about sending a stamped addressed envelope so presumably the £10/£11 entry fee covers that.
I will be posting my entry this morning on the way to today's very warm half marathon near Beverley. An 11:30am start is not ideal on a warm day. According to the weather forecast it will be 22°C for those people lucky enough to be in the shade.
Is it not too early to enter - it doesn't fill up that quickly does it? I think I will do this one again, really enjoyed it this year and chatted to quite a few women at the back - can I blame them for my slow time?
TT - enter now and then you won't forget. I noticed the closing date is now 1/12/04. You used to be able to wait until after Chrimbo to enter this one. I've posted my form today anyway. Bestest be safe than sorry. Anyway I want to be first in the queue for a cuppa when HB breaks 2 hours!!
FF, I have just got back from today's half marathon and judging by my finishing time (2:22) I'd say that queue could be quite thirsty by the time I break 2 hours. Mind you, I think it was a lot to do with the heat - 25°C according to my car. Unrelenting blue skies and sunshine, which is great if you are a spectator! Last week's Leek Half Marathon in the rain was much more comfortable.
Next Sunday I will be doing the Bristol Half Marathon. A nice flat course so if only the weather would just cool down a bit....
