Don't get me wrong Moe, what I meant to say is that the Bimble is a great training run for the Grizzly, but you're quite right, the big G is in a league of it's own...better atmosphere, deeper mud, bigger hills, and the small matter of an additional 7 miles compared to the Bimble!!
oldhasbeen, the cub run follows the same course as the Grizzly running with the full version runners until you cut off along the course and make your way to the finish. Don't do as one runner did last year and missed the cut off thus doing the full version instead!
I spoke to the winner of the womens race last weekend and amazingly she had her entry returned to her because she just missed the closing date. Can't be many races that turn away their current champs. So, if any of you girls out their are feeling 'up for it' there is one less for you to worry about.....
At the same time, it means I know a couple of people who may be interested in an entry if anybody has to miss out for any reason.
Hmm wonder if I should be doing this one really. Not a good race for the knees is it. ( I did know that but was in denial). I sort of got sucked in because my husband is doing the full race and I hated being left out!!
oldhasbeen, I'm doing the cub run as well while my husband is doing the full run - not sure who will finish first! I survived the mudbath organised by certain YTRRC members last week so hopefully this will be OK.
what mudbath was that then LW?! all our runs have been a bit muddy admittedly but can't remember ny of us having a bath in them!! (was that the North Perrott mudbath or the Queen Camel one by the way?!)
It was the North Perrott one on the 16th. As someone fairly new to running I usually step round the muddy bits, but this was knee-deep and no-where to go round- certainly an experience, but more than made up for by the excellent meal in the pub after.
You're right snap, I know I'll regret not doing it. I used to be up for everything, I hate being such a wimp. So long as I'm in before the main race finishes!!
just passing ... as I think it's allow in this race (can someone confim this please) I know at least 1 place is going spare and possibly 2 (not mine, just a couple of people in my old running club)!!! If anyone is interested please e-mail me.
HMG, yes race number transfers are allowed provided you tell the organisors!. I think Iain on page 4 of this link was after a number or two for his friends
I read elsewhere that mt shoes are a must for the Grizzly, is this so or can I get by with my road shoes?
Last night I ran the beach West Bay to Eype and up to Thorncombe beacon without any problems, with the mud that is. The hills were something else. Thats just down the coast from Grizzly country by the way.

Must get some training in on the pebbles this year.

See you all there
go on, do it anyway--if you don't you will really regret it!

LW - I'll look out for you.
Anyone doing the Broadclyst Bimble this Sunday? Good training for the Grizzly, and you can enter on the day!
(OK so this is a shameless plug for a race organised by my club. Details at www.swrr.co.uk).
Have fun at the Bimble, all those who are doing it - will be with you in spirit but not body as will be hashing in Norton instead!!
Richard will be doing the Bimble and I'll be marshalling
please excuse the ignorance, but exactly what is Hashing?
Hash House Harriers
Don't say I didn't tell you so!
