I ran the HM in Amsterdam yeaterday and despite what I thought was a good run, was quite disappointed by the clock showing 1:25 for my third sucessive Half - perhaps I am destined never to get that 1:23 that I strive for.
  • you're probably right Chaos - I seem to remember doing this on the back of a 20 miler pre flm this year.

still my plan remains to try and get a bit faster over the next few months...from crawling to crawling with attitude!
  • Thanks Chaos, well done to you as well, your time was amazing!
  • Well done Wrinty. Can only dream of 1.25.
Have checked the "Am I In?" section and yes I am in

  • WrintyWrinty ✭✭✭
Had a good run at the Cheddar Half on Saturday, clocking 1:24:07 so 1:23 looks like it is on the cards, as Bath will be my next Half.

  • BB, stop grovelling now!!

You're right, BD is wrong - I don't do Bath. I did it a few times and always hated it (nothing to do with the organisation; lousy weather, boring route, pesky RW pacing groups underfoot) but I've decided to come back because after all Bath is a lovely city and this is an exciting race.

I also want a potentially fast HM in my FLM build-up and this suits.

So, yes, I will be up for a party afterwards, just as soon as I've finished being sick and can walk again. This is going to be a PB attempt after all :-)

  • "might See you at the start line" ..................... hate to be cynical (well maybe not) but you gotta get out of the rec first! ;-)
  • where are all the Bath runners?
  • City of Bath AC have 132 members entered - watch out for the red white and blue army!
  • WrintyWrinty ✭✭✭
I thought AVR were going well with forty runners signed up, but there again we do only have 100 members.
  • Wrinty - are you doing the Longleat 10k? It's Feb 6th
    RD
  • WrintyWrinty ✭✭✭
RD, in a word "No" - my next excursion onto the roads will be at the Bramley 10 on February 20th - then it is the Bath Half for me.
  • See you in Bath then (or at least a blur!)
  • Starting to think of my training programme for this one now that we are fastly approaching 2005. Coach at running club has recommended doing some hill work every week and building up my 10mile long run to 15miles.

Also been advised to try out some gels in prep for using in race, what would you guys suggest please and cheapest place to buy?
  • Oops. Bit late finding this but add me to the list. Pint of Abbey please.

    Any ideas on the gels?

  • I've just started out using the SIS gels as they're isotonic so don't need to be taken with water. If you can get over the consistency that all gels have, the taste is quite mild and not at all offensive.
  • Cheers Jon, where do you find best place to buy them?
  • I use SIS gels too, get them from a running shop, or off the web, but you get a great boxful then, and really you need to check that you get on alright with them!!

  • Agree with Bodjit - buy one first to see if you get on with them (or one of each flavour), then order a box online.

I have a link for a cheap place at work so will post it next week.

  • Will try sis then, thanks.

Its getting closer, only 11 weeks to go!

I am getting a sad touch of deja vu about this years event, already I have managed to pull a hamstring and missed two weeks training. Exactly the same time and hamstring as last year - which left me less than race fit come March.
