I have this problem both when running and also when out in my walking boots. It usually develops after some time. I feel a pressure/stiffness across the ball of the foot, more in the left foot than in the right one. It is as if the foot has become rigid and won't adapt to the terrain on which it stands, or as if there is an iron bar glued to my sole. It can get quite painful at times.
I'm wondering if this is an indication that I need a specific type of running shoe. Otherwise, I have wide feet and highish arches, but I find very protruding arch supports irritating.
