Fred - sounds like you are doing fine, nearly there now
Lee - I will look out for you!
I will be doing run/walk from the start too. I have injuries and also have a cough at the moment. Like you Fred I suffer on going problems a result of having Lupus, but I am happy to run/walk and just want to attempt to enjoy the day
Hi everyone - truly sorry I've not been in here before even though I was the Sub5 entrant for Runners World.
To put it simply - I didn't do it. I didn't make Sub 5. I made 5:22:25 - gutted but as some of you may know I was out for three weeks with a suspected stress fracture.
Still - never mind.
So good luck to you all. I'm going to eventually close my forum thread and head over to here for a while.
I finished Brighton marathon in 5:06:34 PB by 1 min 10 secs. Was on target for a sub 5 hrs until got crap at 24 miles I wanted to cried but dug deep. Was really pleased as it was my best paced marathon ever
I did 5hrs 38mins. I was doing OK up until half way but then my race fell apart and had to run/walk the rest. I stupidly forgot my cap too, so my head is still peeling. I'm not very good in the heat at the best of times.
Ah. I see. Not for me any more. I did go for a 26.35 'run' on Monday. Did it in 4:51. Wanted to see what it was like without the costume! Good luck everyone with the ballot.
I did London in 5.46 which was just 7 mins slower than Brighton the week before I'm happy with that for now.
Did Windermere last weekend which I really didn't enjoy - as soon as you came down one hill, the next one started. I managed 6.11 which I am ok with too bearing in mind how hard it was.
God Kent Road Runner on Saturday. Not sure how that will go at the moment
My VMLM didn't go too well, did okay until 9 miles then all my injuries re-appeared I have been trying to build up some mileage again, up to 7 miles now but still struggling. I very much hope to run in the new Swansea HM in July, as this is on my doorstep, but not sure if I will make the 2.30 cut off at the moment!
I didn't enter VMLM ballot this year, the pressure of but I have entered Brighton so will have to see how it goes!
I have decided that I need to lose some weight as being heavy is not helping my injuries! I joined slimming world two weeks ago and doing okay so far, 5.5 pound off, so hopefully continue that way!
Roobs - well done on all your Marathons Hope today is going well
Hi MWW, sounds like you and I have similar conundrums. I have also vowed to lose weight before doing any more runs (Park runs aside) and have also joined Slimming World. I need to lose at least 4 stone though so a long way to go.
MWW - well done on your weight loss. Hope to see you at Brighton next year. No Beachy this year for Bernard and me. I happy with it after running it 8 years in a row. Going to work on building up my distance slowly and work on my speed.
Leeee, I got into running to lose weight. I was 16+++ st (could not bare to weight myself past 16) I am now 12. I also yo yo for years.
Forget sliming it is fcuking bullshit.
Simply reduce carbs (do not withdraw them) and replace with veg.
then over time reduce portion sizes too. drink more water and stop snacking. only eat when hungry. change how you view food: food is energy, it is not a comfort.
do this as a lifestyle change and you will lose weight and keep it off too.

That's it! Last 3m run in 29:58. Amazing what a bit of rest can do for you! Sticking to 11:15 miles come Sunday though.

Paul, were you wearing bright yellow trousers?
Bright green. There were 4 male apples, three of whom had green leggings on.
I always end up walking.
