well yes - but the commentary would make you think the turnout was massive - there are sprinklings of people in some places - gaps , space to walk along th pavement etc
it looks like they are going thru the backstreets -
i thought they wanted it to show how much support there would be for the London Olympics
more people walk down Market St in Manchester everyday than there are lining the pavements
I would have liked to have been there but the timing is just way out. They haven't really thought about it properly. Why not early evening time or even a weekend. Monday lunchtime really is the pits.
"I thought they wanted it to show how much support there would be for the London Olympics".
They haven't done their homework for this very important message to be sent.
apparently it is today ( and not at a weekend or during half term next week ) because they couldnt get peoples diaries to fit
if it was so important to get people out showing support then they should have made it a priority for the parade to take place when most people would have been able to get out there
London is a long way behind Paris and Madrid at present - things like this show why
this is a bit of a no-brainer and i am surprised the british o.c. have made such an own goal.
although the para-olympics is still pretty fresh in the memory the olympics finished at the end of august (ie nearly 8 weeks ago)...the parade for the rugby world cup took place 2 weeks after the event when it was still at the forefront of the nations psyche
I would have turned out to see them but all the news reports I heard this morning said the parade was 'this afternoon'...rather than during the lunch hour. So I didn't go. Suspect other peeps may have made a similar decision.

A few grand on council tax for the opportunity to buy £200 tickets in eight years time. Very enticing.
