I know this means that I probably just need to get out more, but I'm already getting quite excited about training for this.
The question is, can I do Draycote but still get a good time in the FLM?
Of course, there are 8 weeks between the two events, which should be plenty of time to recover, but am I asking a bit too much of myself? I REALLY want sub 3:15 in the FLM next year.
I'm only just starting to get back into training after a very poor season wrecked by colds and chest infections which may have been partly due to overtraining for the London to Brighton.

Anyway, i'm planning something along those lines myself,so i can put it to the test. After running L2B the idea of a 35 mile ultra doesn't seem quite so bad, though the thing is,do you treat it as an out and out trot like L2B, or as an extended marathon and attempt it quicker?
At the moment i'm trying to persuade a couple of clubmates to give this a crack as well,i've told them that training 'over-distance' will do wonders for their maratohn pace. That worked on me!But they're not going for it,yet.
Are you sure you really want to go under 3.15?They make you do it twice more for that!
Anders.
ive boinged the thread on events
But Ian, my first ultra was 35 hilly miles and that was 2 weeks before the London marathon. I did a marathon pb in the ultra and a pb at London.
I'll give myself the rest of this month to recover from the lurgy then I'll start the slow build up from 1st of November - it'll keep the Xmas blubber off too with any luck.
Anders, your training programme sounds good. It would also fit in with some of my other races in the North Staffs Road Runners league.
I've just started running with short lunchtime runs.
I'll start the longer ones next week, peaking for 5 or 6 weeks by early November.
And another two went for number ones whilst still running.
I've just sent off my entry form (0:
it was my first ultra
