I think I understand why she is doing all this - and good on her, very courageous but like hippo said what about her family. She must be spending alot of time away from her family to train and compete wouldn't you want to spend that time with your kids? Obviously it is up to her. I think anyone who does an ironman is amazing!
I agree with you hips. The poor kids dont know how long they've got with their Mum. Anyone can raise money. It doesnt have to be Jane.
Still, I aint going to judge. Whatever gets you through the night and all that. Who knows it may be the constant challenges that keeps her going and if she stopped doing them totally, well I didnt even want to go there.
she was only given 7 months to live you know - that was 4 years ago - i reckon her challenges have kept her going for the extra time - dont think her family would begrudge her that
just hope she does achieve what she wants and still has much more time left to spend with her family and friends
As an IM racer myself, I just cannot comprehend the pain she must have suffered, it's tough enough for those of us who are not terminally ill. For someone like Jane, it must be excruciating. She is absolutely the bravest competitor on the planet!
Jane Tomlinson is absolutely amazing; an inspiration to us all. It shows how insignificant most peoples day to day problems are compared to her fight against a terminal ilness. Good on you Jane, you are a true sporting heroine.
i saw jane been interviewed on the beach before the swim start, and being a publicity hound i walked over and squeezed her arm and wished her good luck. i can honestly say that she was so warm and friendly that i found her inspirational despite me being a grumpy old git.

but didnt she say last but one event that she was stopping to spend some quality time with her family
isnt the NHS fab
hope she makes that target now
i dont understand where she finds the physical energy to train that hard or the time
speaks volumes about the power of the human spirit
makes me feel very ashamed
or take reduced hours and have plenty of appropriate sick leave when it was required if that was what they wanted
it must be really hard for them
I feel like such a wuss now - putting off my run because it's a little cold.
Jane knows her family better than i do
But
how does the 7 year old cope
Jane has done the swim in 1hr 35 mins - so I have read!
Good luck Jane

Good stuff!
she was hoping to get to the finish as there ws no cut off - shes at 9 hours now - not sure what she was expect for marathon
i still cant comprehend what an enormous challenge this is for someone so ill
keeping everything crossed for her that she gets thru unscathed to the finish
