Plan for Sunday is wales and back on the Trek, around 60 miles, and then having left it set up in the garage up and over Helby and Frodsham hills on the Cervélo for another 25 miles... Thent he Giro on TV
Might remember to watch some book awards on the TV tonight, see if anyone famous is on
Good, I did 59 on the Trek, but had left the TT bike set up ready in the garage, Jumped straight from one to the other and did another 42 on the Cervélo.
Struggled over the last 10 miles on the run back as only one bottle cage on the TT, I was gasping a bit by the time I was home.
Watched the Giro on tv whilst re-hydrating, and then got out cutting the grass at the front. Suppose I should have run, But was over heated by the time I got in. Suppose I was a bit silly, Did all that on 3 bidons of water and 2 gels.
I spent the weekend mostly bobbing about on or in the Englsih Channel - happy to report I have sea legs so can crew for Sarah in July. Was also persuaded to have a non wetsuit swim myself in the lake they train in on Sunday and quite strangely, really enoyed it. Apparently our lake is a balmy 18 degrees so going to go for a non wettie swim tonight too.
Tomorrow is my last exam of the year and will I be glad!!
From a getting there point of view, we drove over, which took forever, partially because it is on a BH weekend in Germany and they are ALL on the road! No idea as regards flying, sorry - but lots did, so it must be possible!
Supporting wise, Sarah and Karen (and others) have said was quite hard to get across town to support on the bike, although the run posed no such problems.
Accommodation wise, we camped at the start line which was fab, as it mean a less than 10 minute walk for me in the morning, whereas most of the 'proper' camp sites (ours was temporary set up for the race - no facilities) and hotels are some distance away. I heard of some having to walk 2 miles to the start line - that said, that could be heresay and gossip.
As far as the race itself goes, and iconic event and I can say hand on hard I loved every moment of it>
Such an nice evening as well, Ended up taking photos of the sunset over the lake (whilst trying to ignore comments that I was taking pervy pictures of wimmin in wet suits... as if )

Sounds delightful.
Nice recovery swim set last night, although I didn't enjoy the 50m of float leg kick
Didn't seem like training !

What are your thoughts on Roth? Obviously a great race, but logistics wise?
Getting there or supporting?

Getting there, probably won't have support with me.
All very interesting and useful, thanks.
I also fancy Vichy as wel
I fancy Vichy too. Ellesmere non-wetsuit for me. Fantastic.
MA
Sounds like good swimming all round.
DVD arrived, thanks mate.
Good stuff
Loved my swim last night - it was sooooo warm!
Are the COLTS going to Roth, then, Holgs?
Such an nice evening as well, Ended up taking photos of the sunset over the lake (whilst trying to ignore comments that I was taking pervy pictures of wimmin in wet suits... as if )
The main COLT party will be in Lanza again, but about 10 or so are talking of a Roth trip.
Seems like the COLTs can't stray too far from the sea side !
IMW then!
IM Workington ? Whitehaven ? Winscales ?
IM Wrexham! LOL!
Isn't that close to the sea tho ?
IM Winscale would be an automatic non wetsuit affair tho !!!
True.... How about IMW being IM Rhyl but introduced by Jonathon Woss?
