  • (((mrsf)))) as long as you're around that's the main thing image

Not much to report - having ITB probs at the mo - just as I think it's getting better I have a fantastic run and then spend a day or two suffering. grrr! Getting in a new regime of stretching which is helping.
  • Hi.

(((((mrsf)))) - not chatty is fine, we all have days like that.   ((((laura)))) .  I strained a muscle, too - presenting my shoes (still on feet) for inspection by airport security!

Hellish trip to  Switzerland for me.  Missed my connection (late inbound flight) then had difficulty getting from Charles de Gaulle to Orly and with a bomb scare & terminal evacuation thrown in!  However, just heard today.  They've offered the job, I've accepted and just waiting for signing contracts, etc then off I go!

Think  I've already found an apartment - two bedrooms, cos it's not much more than a one bed and gives me a corner unit plus balcony.  Best news is, I can afford to pay my UK mortgage on top of my local expenses so renting out the house would be only to ensure it doesn't sit empty rather than a financial necessity.

  • Scoobs thats fantastic news!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations.image

((((Laura)))) sorry to hear that know how much running means to you image

We have had an offer accepted on another house, pulled out of the other one fed up of her messing us about.  So I'm all happy and smiley at the moment, lets hope it lasts image

  • Woohoo - good news about the house.  I think we're both in similar places re. mood.   Happy and smiley's great, innit?

Thanks Mrs F - seems like everyone else rained on my parade today.  I've not heard from my mum but I know she thinks it's wrong of me to leave my current school during the long holidays.  My contract is four weeks' notice and that's what  I'm giving.  Now, I might end up stressed out/unhappy in the new place but it would definitely happen here and you do have to look after number one from time to time.  Right enough, the stress diet hasn't been all bad but I'd be a non-car owner in Switzerland so all the walking should help.

For now, though, I'm gathering information and hoping it all comes together so the move (well, emigrating really) is as smooth as can be.  I'm off on Spanish hols on Sunday but away from home from tomorrow so it  will be enforced idle-time.

  • Scoobs - fantastic news re the job.  Well done you!  So, what are you going to be teaching?  I don't see any problem with resigning during the holidays ... that will pose no more difficulties for the school than if you were ill at the start of the new term.  They'll just have to get cover until they fill the vacancy.  I think you're dead right to do what's right for you.  Well done.

I love teaching - it's so diverse and there are so many opportunities out there.  I find I want to do so many things - the only thing stopping me is time.  I've applied for another job in my college.  I don't especially want it, I want to stick at what I'm doing because I love it, but I don't have a permanent contract and that's frustrating me.  I'm hoping that by applying for the other position, they'll worry they're going to lose me from my current role and offer me a contract to keep me.  Fingers crossed.  Otherwise I'll have to go.  I only have to give a week's notice because I don't have a contract and so, even though I've been open about my application, if I were to go over to the new position, it will leave my department in turmoil.  I don't know, but I don't think it's quite so easy to find cover in FE

((((Laura)))) - That doesn't sound very pleasant.

Great news about the new house Mrs F.  I hope you like it better than the last one.  I'm quite surprised they were able to mess you around as much as they did - it's a buyer's market after all.

We've got our staff barbeque this afternoon.  I fear we're going to get a bit wet.  Tonight I'm off to the beauty therapist's graduation ball.  I taught them key skills.  They taught me how to look after my skin a bit better and my nails have never looked as fab as they do now.  I'm also waxed everywhere (well not quite, they're my students after all).

  • Thanks Mints - I'd not thought about it being like being ill,  I'd been thinking 'well, if I dropped dead over the holidays', pessimist that I  am!

I'll be teaching English, with a few periods a week of drama, in an international school.  There's  a drama specialist to keep me right on the drama stuff.  However, due to the multicultural pupil intake, I will have to learn to mark American &  Australian English (punctuation, grammar, spelling) as well as British English.  Eeek.  Oh and it's a German area of Switzerland so speaking French & Spanish won't be a whole lot of help to me.  I'll have to learn German - I already learnt one word, it's dishwasher!

Anyway, am off soon for my holipops.  Take care all.

  • Have a fab time Scoobs.  Little Mint is doing German instead of French and his favourite word is schweiser - sh!t - but apparently a perfectly acceptable word in polite company.
  • woohooo!!!

pops a bottle of bubbly for MrsF's and Scooby's news!!!

had a loveyl evening and day out with Scrummy - shared her first yorkshire run this morning and we've eaten our way round Ilkley image

  • Geeeez Louise, it's quiet in here!!!

    Hello all! imageimageimageimage
  • I've not been around much lately - but now I'm back again. Doing the 100 pressup chalenge which should be interesting. I wanna look like Daniel Craig (harumph yeah).

I hope all is well out there - at chez Blaze all is fairly quiet and stable - ish which is just how we like it,

  • YEAH go for it Johnny!!! I was doing a 1min challenge every week with my PT - got up to something like 40 in a minute - but then my wrist started to hurt and I've hardly been able to do any pressups since then image

  • Daniel Craig - where?!?!?!

tired and grumpy and stressed to hell and have to work this weekend ;(

  • That's poo nsc image working weekends is just not on!!!

Got Race For Life tomorrow and then planning to run home (11miles) as I need to do 14 miles.
Should be interesting especially as I aim to run eye balls out for a PB in the RFL image
  • In the middle of huge clutter clear and house reorganisation (it's starting to look good too) so can't stay on.  Just popped in to say hello.  I can't believe how quiet it's become in here - I do hope you're all okay.

    Enjoy RFL tomorrow Laura.

Sorry to hear you're working this weekend NSC - I hope you'll get some time of in lieu to make up.

Glad to hear things are okay with you JB - don't disappear and the minute you even begin to look like Daniel Craig .... well, I'd actually better not say cos you is a married man!!!!

Laura, you're having a spate of injuries aren' t you!  Good luck for the race tomorrow and then your leisurely 11 miles after image

Joining you in the decluttering Mints and its feeling good.  Have now started packing the odd box here and there, today got rid of loads of recipe books I've accumulated and never used.  House sale/buying is all still happening and keeping fingers crossed it all goes through.

Have not exercised for over a month due to Chiro instructions not to do so.  On wednesday he told me I could start brisk walking again but keep it under 30 mins.  It was so good to do some!  Weight I lost through stress has all gone back on this week, my appetite came back with a vengance LOL!

  • sorry gang I promise to play nicely ....... will pop by tomorrow
  • Lovely to see you back on form Mrs F.  Clutter clearing is liberating.  I've got loads to do.  I'm just going to tackle one room at a time over the summer.

Today I moved a sofa out of the conservatory and up to the garage, then I moved the dining table out of the sitting room and into the conservatory.  We've now got loads of space in the sitting room and it's lovely.  Will tackle all the laundry in the conservatory, probably on Wednesday.

Don't know if I said my step-mum was ill - I think I mentioned the bone cancer scare some time ago.  Well she had a hip replacement following her fall but hasn't ever managed to walk again.  They now want us to find nursing care for her.  It's really devastating because six months ago she was fine.  There's no power of attorney in place and so we've got a lot of legal steps to take to sort things out for her.  Off up to Wrexham tomorrow to see her - the first time I've seen her since she's been told she has to go into a home.

Look forward to hearing from you tomorrow Scrum - I hope you're well honey.

  • Mints hope today hasnt been too emotional for you.

Have decided I hate packing up boxes, especially in my littleuns room, I get SOOO frustrated.  I can't see any point in packing what I call tat.  Tat that he just won't live without arghh!!! Managed to do just one more box today.

Had the In-Laws round for lunch today, all very nice and had fun watching littleun make a tent out of old sheets, pieces of string and old sticks (bless), not a playstation in sight (and thats not because I've packed it LOL).

  • Despite injury probs - managed to bag a nice 5k PB today at Race For Life.

Finished in 24.23 and due to starting at the front, managed to finish in 10th position image: D image

Then ran 9 of the planned 11 miles home. Ran out of fuel/the will to live!!! LOL

MrsF - nice to see you about the place. Crappy about the chiro's instructions (I would be going mental by now). XXX(())))

    (((minty and her step mum))

    XXXX

  • Fantastic time Laura.  I hope you won't be too sore tomorrow!   Well done you.  10th place!!!  Wow!

I hate packing up houses Mrs F.  I really need to move nearer to work and so my clutter clearing is with a view to not having too much 'tat' to move with me.  I got my sitting room almost finished.  Will do the conservatory on Wednesday hopefully.

Went to see my step-mum.  Bless her, she really is going downhill.  I think it's just dementia but it's incredible how quickly you lose them.  She seemed to know who I was when I first arrived but was calling me something else by the time I left.  She avoided questions about who's who.

One thing she said that distressed me.  She told Little Mint he had an angel sitting by his shoulder waiting to take him.  I know it was just her state of confusion but it's played on my mind ever since.  Not in the sense that I'm worried about Little Mint - more that I'm worried about her.  I remember my Dad seeing people who weren't there before he died - and my Dad's mum did the same - and Dad didn't have dementia.

Going back up later in the week to speak to the solicitor (what's the world coming to when you need a solicitor when you're on your way downhill?) and to hopefully start looking at nursing homes.  image

  • Pretty emotional stuff there Mints, do you have any brothers or sisters who can share the burden?

    Laura thats great stuff, WOW!!

Managed to pack one more box today ughh, thats seven in total now and not even scratched the surface image

  • Yes, there's enough of us rallying round Mrs F but my brothers are at a distance as well (and one has cut himself off saying he prefers to remember step-mum as she was - the coward - don't we all?).  She has two sisters nearer to her.  I know she wants me to look after everything when she goes but she hasn't gone and it's difficult to sort out at a distance.

With no power of attorney, we have no choice but to instruct solicitors.

Everyone should have a power of attorney - those of you that don't - do it now - don't leave it until it's too late.  I'm only 44 but appointed a power of attorney three or four years ago now.  It's important that somebody can handle my affairs if I become unable to for any reason.

  • hi lovely people

Minty I hope it all starts to calm down for you soon ..... ooh I have sat with my nan this afternoon she is unwell again..... at least with old age you can nodd and say well she has had a good innings dementia is awful minty .... my nanna had alzheimer's.......

  • Hiya, sorry for not being around.  Just back home between jobs away and can't believe we've fallen on to the second page!

Hello to everyone and hugs to those that need them.

Have been doing a bit of running, but not much tbh.  Just not enough hours in the day at the mo and something has to give ... and that means the running unfortunately.  Hope to get out for an early one tomoro and will report in then if I do.

Take care all and happy weekend running!

    EB

  • hellooooooooo??? anyone heeeereeee!!??

Hi guys. On my hols this week image off to Cornwall tomorrow (Padstow) for some fish and running YAY image

    Hope everyone's doing ok! XXX
  • image happy holibobs Laura

*tidies up the dust bunnies and clears away the empties*

settles in on the sofa with a tube of jaffa cakes - anyone joining me?

  • Oh dear - any of those jaffa cakes left???
  • I'll have some jaffa cakes with my morning coffee.  Today's my first day at home in ages - whizzing all over the place - up to Wrexham for step-mum - we've now found a care home and my tenants left my London house so it was down to London for that - I'm exhausted!

I hope the weather is better in Padstow than it is here!!!  I love Padstow,

Went camping for the first time ever last week.  That was interesting!!!  Tent being returned for refund after I woke at 4.00am with water dripping on my face!

Hope everyone is well.  I wonder how Mrs F is getting on.  Has she moved yet?
