Well done speedy, the wind and rain would have persuaded me to not go out. I didn't run today, my cold is at its tale end but legs feel like lead. I went for a 4 mile walk though so at least some exercise was had. Not too bad with food though but starving now, waiting for hubby to come home from work to have dinner together.
Welcome slainte. Join in. The motivation is great on here. It is keeping me going when I have been really struggling and feeling worthless.
Well done ally30. A 4 mile is great. Just had my dinner and was really good with the portion size tonight.
I do feel pleased that I went out. Must be getting back into the swing of things because just a few weeks ago I would have got home from work and thought no way in this weather.
Just knowing that there are other people around who understand is such a help. People at work think I'm completely off my trolley when I go into work having already run 10k on the treadmill or 4 miles round the block.
I did FLM in 2001 and found it so hard to get motivated to get out and run because I was doing it completely on my own. This time I have a training partner for long runs and I've got you lot and my Tsunami Team chums to keep me focused. It makes such a difference.
Folks at my work think the same mava. All my running over the years has been on my own except for 2 years that I ran with the Anster Haddies when I lived nearer them. Their training was fabulous. They were so friendly. I moved about 10 miles further away and a 50 mile round trip was just too much so I was back to being on my own. It is really hard on your own. Hubby can't plod slow enough to go out with me and if he does he leaves me. That is why it is so important for me to come on here. There is the added bonus of meeting up with you all at some races.
I have to say though, I don't know how you peeps with families do it. I find it hard enough to find time and I only have myself to worry about. No mr mava, just a senile 17 year old fat cat!
When my kids were younger and before the flew the nest we had to take turns in going out. I used to run early and hubby would run later. Same at weekends. Depended a lot on what shift he was on. Youth clubs were a god send. Then when oldest one grew up a bit she was left baby sitting while I fitted in my runs. In the summer kids would come out on there bikes while I ran.We got into a habit of late eating and this has stuck with us.
Shame none of us live close to each other. Would love to have someone to plod with.
Sam - shame about the 20 miles but I couldn't keep up with you. I walk too much. Do you run with a running club at all. Trying to talk my oldest one into running. She lives 10 miles away (probably your direction Sam) but she would need to give up smoking. Youngest daughter lives 9 miles away in other direction and I pick her up in the morning for work but even though she has run 2 FLM with me she does not wish to run ever again.
I'm in God's own Country......Yorkshire!!! I do most of my running on my own too although other half is good and comes with me occasionally even though he is WAY too quick for me! An easy run for him is 'eyeballs out' for me! lol! Plus he is even further south in Milton Keynes!
Keep it up Speedy, Ally30, Debbo, Hippo etc etc.... (goodness! there are loads of us here! Let's have a party!)
I took your advice Mava and sort of rested my achilles. I went to the gym last night and only did 10 mins warm up on bike and the rest were mainly upper body exercises. I have an infra red lamp / massager at home so have used that on it...bliss! This morning I have run to work (ankle not too bad but I'm not a good early morning runner so it is usually a plod anyway)
I know I shouldn't have weighed myself but I thought I had been so good, I must have lost some more weight. Bad mistake! I'm 2 lbs heavier! *groan* Must be all the fibre I'm eating, it's soaking up the water and making me heavy! Well, I'm determined to carry on so I've had a frusli bar and an apple for breakfast.
No truer word said in jest Hippo! Not only do I 'go' 2 - 4 times a day, I now have floaty poo! (Sorry, too much information at this time of the morning)

Mr. Sam often feels neglected, don't know how I'd fit in kids to the equation too!
