  • Hi all.  Thank you Limper.  Yes I plan to keep it up but will be trying to turn some walks into plods.  Looking for any other walking events to do.

I did 18.25 miles today. Misjudged the mileage and would have to have gone past caravan at 18 miles to fit in another 2 miles and as it was chucking it down I chickend out.  It was tough on my own.

10k and 10m is still good Limper.  You can't help injury so take care.

Moonwalk is 7th June so not long now.  We return from holipops on Saturday.

I reckon an 18 mile walk might be tougher than an 18 mile run. It's certainly longer on your feet!

You should look at the LDWA events Speedy. They quite often have runners and walkers taking part.

I plodded home yesterday. It was slow but I enjoyed it. I've been suffering very badly with stress for the last couple of months (or longer actually) and that has stood in the way of exercising even more than my injuries have. So I'm not only trying to regain my physical fitness now; I'm also re-training myself to relax and prioritise differently. It's not always easy to do - but yesterday was successful image

  • Good for you getting out to run. Stress can get you so down in all areas of life. I do a lot of stress risk assessments at work and it is a tough thing to go through. I hope you are ok. ((((Hugs)))) Take care of yourself. Hope the run helped.

I will check out LDWA. Thanks. I have been enjoying the walking but worried after the Moonwalk I won't have a reason to get out so I need something more. I hope I can get plodding for the GNR.
  • Holibops time! The Eagles are flying the nest. image

Can sympathise with the stress/injury combo Limper.

What is it with grass and it's it's unending obsession with growth?

  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

I just did a race! Not that I am a contender of course, but at least I was brave enough to turn up.
It was in the region of 24 degrees and there was no shade the whole way. If lard really does melt in the heat I should be two sizes smaller now!!

The grass has grown again btw.

  • Well done on your race Limper.

    RE hope holiday is good.

Moonwalk on Saturday night. Excited and nervous but feel trained ok for it. Weight loss going really well. Must be all the walking.

    Will report bbackon Sunday.
  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

Good luck for Saturday night Speedy. You will do great.
Well done for your weight loss.
    Look forward to a report.

Hope the walk went well Speedy? How was your weather?

  • Hi all. Well I managed the walk. Completed it in 8.5hrs. The weather all day Saturday was awful so the park where it started was a mud bath. Our wave went off at midnight. The rain had stopped about 9pm. The weather throughout the night was beautiful. It was strange walking throughout the night. It was fab walking up Arthurs Seat in the dark. Walking along the coast watching the sun rise over the sea was awesome. I did hit the wall at about 20 miles but picked up again at 23 miles. So chuffed with myself for finishing. I would post a photo of me in my bra but don't know how to....just as well really. Now onto the next challenge ????
  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

Well done Speedy. Excellent achievement. You should be very proud of yourself.

  • Thank you Limper. Legs have felt a bit tired this week so haven't ventured out much. Looking for another challenge for July. Have entered Kielder Water Challenge in Sept - 25 mile walk round the lake ???

    Hope everyone is well.
  • What a lovely day it has been. So glad I don't work a Monday. Did a lovely 11 mile walk in the sunshine. Back of neck feels very hot tonight. Guess sun was behind me.

    How are you all?
  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

Bit run down Speedy. Family crisis type stuff.

Well done for your big walk today.

  • Hope you are ok Limper and taking care of yourself. ((((Hugs)))

Thank you. Hoping to get out for long walk today then if legs will allow maybe start plodding.
  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

Hope you enjoy your walk Speedy. I'm sure your walking fitness will help you to make a smooth transition back to running. Be realistic and remember to enjoy it.

My crisis continues and I am run off my feet (but not in the sense of running!) trying to sort everything and everyone out. I'm a bit of an emotional wreck. Onwards and upwards though; I am sure it's all going to be ok.

  • Thank you Limper. I did 14 miles but was struggling for about the last 3. No idea why. This weekend my plan is to start plodding. Hoping to have a short walk later today then because of work times can't fit in anything till Friday.

Sorry to hear you are still struggling. Hope things get better for you soon.

14 miles is a brilliant distance to walk Speedy. Well done!

I had started running regularly again, albeit short and slow, then just as I finished a really lovely positive long run two weeks ago my world went a bit tits-up and I've not had a chance to run since. It's really not the most important thing just at the moment though! Hopefully things will be ok soon. I have a favourite event looming in a couple of weeks time.

  • Hope you have managed out for a run.  Hope you are ok.  What is the event that is coming up?

I walked 3 miles yesterday and I plodded 3 miles today.  My legs were strong, left knee protested a little but the big thing was my serious lack of breath.  It was my first pplod and I just couldn't breathe properly so it was very much a plod/walk.

    How are the boys?

  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

The boys are touring the world and living the high life!!

I managed one weeny plod last week - it was awful! Oh dear. I'm just too tired and too stressed to enjoy a run at the moment.
The event is New Forest 10M. I do it every year and I love it. Last year I wasn't fit and really struggled, even though the Eagle flew back out to escort me over the finish. I was hoping to be in good shape for it this year but that clearly isn't going to be the case.

Well done for getting started again with plodding. It's good that your legs are strong and your breathing will improve once you are plodding regularly. Just enjoy your strength and fitness to begin with.

Beautiful morning. The beach is covered in yukky green jelly-like seaweed. I blame the innits (tourists).

  • Evening. Lucky boys off on their travels.

Are you busy at work that is making you tired? Stress and tiredness can wipe you out. Maybe just short runs to help relieve the stress. Would that work? Sorry you are having a horrible time just now.

Managed another plod and it went a little better. Having to mix plodding with days of walks seeing as I am doing Kielder Water Challenge so still need to train to walk 25 miles.

Weather not good here. Wind and dull. It was lovely up till Tuesday but has gone down hill. Typical Scotland.
  • limperlimper ✭✭✭

Work is busy but it's home stuff that is making me stressed. The combination of work work work and home issues means that I don't have the time to run.

Well done for getting another plod done.

  • Sending hugs your way Limper... (((())))

Did a mixture of plod/walk over the weekend. 3 miles on Sat, 5 miles Sunday and 3 today. No time Tues, Wed and Thurs due to work so that's me till Friday.
  • Hello, back in the UK.

    How are you my lovely?

  • Well done Limper. Sorry not been around what between work and childminding I have been busy. Not much walking getting done. Well fitting in 5 and 6 miles but nothing longer. Away in caravan this weekend with 5 year old grandson. Worn out and will be happy to take him home tomorrow.
