I've got a nasty reaction to a massage I had on my calf the other night. It seems to stem from the massage oil blocking pores or interfering with hair folicals, but there are several, very painful spots not dissimilar to balckheads appearing.
I've had this before and it only cleared up after a period of taking anti-biotics.
What is causing this and can I get over it without the need to take anti-biotics.

Ask them to use oil designed for hairy skin like chemoderm, or an oil with an antibacterial agent in it to stop this happening. Dry all the oil off after a massage using a towel then have a good shower as soon as you get home. One of my patients went for a training session straight after a massage and despite wiping all the oil off, the sweat combo caused a very nasty reation with yellow spots!! Nice!!
I'm sure SLM is right but my neighbour runs a (legit) massage company so I'll ask him tomorrow.
It's quite painful!
Your best bet as they say above it to scrub the oil off soon after with a puff & an antibac soap (not that I do but I should!).
