Viewfrom shoes

I just bought a pair of Viewfrom running shoes from M&S. Are they a serious running shoe or will I just have to use them when posing as a runner?

  • Am I the only person to have bought a pair?

  • it might be so!
  • Why did you buy them if you didn't know what they were for ?

I've seen Aldi do running shoes in the past - no idea what they were like.
  • They were £15 reduced from £55 and the blurb said something about Brendan Foster.

Aldi do good stuff amazingly cheap from time to time. I got some walking gear there although the boots in my size were all sold before I got there.

  • £15 sounds worth a shot then !

I'd try them for a little run and see how they feel ?
  • I don't know what they are like, but viewfrom is a good brand. Thing is, were they branded as 'running shoes' or cross trainers, or trainers for general sport, walking.. leisure - that's what's going to make the difference.
  • Aldi currently have running shoes in and wind cheaters. I've brought cycling shoes, gilets, jackets and technical tees from them before and they're alright.

    viewfrom shoes? first I've heard
I'll have to wander into M&S sometime to check out the competition!
  • M&S have just been selling trainers made by Avia. No idea if they are ok to run in seriously, they looked alright for leisure wear but they were out of my size.

View from did market some running shoes a few years ago and if my memory is correct they were either made by or designed by Brooks. Again no idea what they were like.
  • Annajo !

  • Went for a run in them today and did a pb for that perticular 5 mile route (pb for 2005 that is) so they can't be all bad. Felt very comfortable but the soles may be a little hard. they made more noise as the front of the foot came down on the road tham my old shoes did. May just be that they have a harder rubber on the sole.

The road felt a bit slippy in places. Again it may just be due to a slightly harder sole. The roaf=d may have been a little greasy but I haven't noticed it on previous runs over this route.

    So far so good.

  • Has anyone else here run in them?

  • So I'm the first and last guinea pig.

  • Burnt out. Without seeing your shoes I can't say for sure, but I believe that View From may have done a deal with a company called Avia and that the shoes could be a version of these. If that's the case then they're a perfectly decent pair of runners. Check out the Avia reviews in our gear section for a comparison. Of course, I may be talking absolute tosh!
  • Well, just checked out Derek S's e-bay link, and yep, they're the Avias.
  • Those are the ones. M&S sold off last year's model at £ reduced from £55 but I noticed that this year's model is priced at £35.

The ones on eBay are presumably last year's but still good value I reckon.

  • You're right Rob.

NB Above for £ read £15.

    Oooh, they look quite nice.

Do they have "Shox" style rearfoot bitties? Looks like it in the photo.

Pity my local M&S is too small to stock much of the VF range, but I may have to take a week trip to a bigger one.
  • Bittie !

Ya know what I mean, Couglet.

  • Nessie,

I think that might be the "Ecto Cantilever System". It seems to be designed with lots of airspaces, presumably to fill up with mud if you venture off the road.

  • Just had a look on the M&S website and cant find them listed or shown there...However there are a few items listed on the first page that seem nicely reduced if you put view from in the quick search box. I have regularly used view from products and find them ok, socks seem pretty hard wearing, let us know how you get on over the next few runs.
  • I think the 'Bittie' has more ring to it.
