Big fleecing

Is it just me or have the organisers missed something about the size of runners?

Generally people who do lots of exercise are quite slim I thought, so how come my size small fleece is big enough to run the marathon in?
Are they assuming that us rejects will all just stop running, sit in front of the tele eating junk and fill out enough for the fleece to fit?

At least hubbie's christmas pressie is sorted now!

I have a size "small," it's a good generous fit. Bear in mind a fleece like this is to be worn on top of potentially 2 or 3 layers!

As if being one of the rejects wasn't bad enough, my 'small' sized fleece is two sizes too big, what a let down!

Psi, I have 2 jumpers underneath maybe it's the third jumper that will make all the difference, although my hands will still be half way up my sleeves!

Surely there are enough rejects that they could have expanded the size range.
Lindi - we must be similar sizes, I also have a problem with the long sleeves. Just think, we can wear our fleeces outside in the winter (with two jumpers underneath) and not need to find any gloves!
I think Mr. L has now laid claim to my fleece after wearing it around the house all of last night.

My medium is like a dress on me and is even too big for Mister Running Muppet. We're trying to think of who on earth we know big enough for the thing.

It's like the Adidas finishing t-shirts. Mine is literally down to my knees and the short sleeve arms come half way down my forearms. I'm fairly small but not abnormal or anything - their t-shirts and fleeces make me feel that way, I can tell you.

Although mine is also very big i think the fleece is very good. I do have a GB place though which may affect my optimism...

At the other end of the scale, my XL fits just right but I know what those with small feel like - I can get my wife's S sized one on no problems and it's just a little smaller than the XL!

Nessie I think you are right. Everybody I know (well the four people who applied for London and failed) has got a Large despite putting a size on the application. And they are all much too big.

It puts you off donating, I would rather have got nothing than something sent without regard for my wishes.

MY Medium is a bit on the large size as well and quite thin. To rub salt in , it says London Marathon 2003 on the inside label, just to remind you that you did not get a place!I don't think I will probably wear anyway as everyone will ask you about the marathon and all you can say is you didn't do it!Or if you wear it before 13 April , then what do you say? I know it was for charity but I wished I hadn't bequeathed now.I wonder if I ever went in the second ballot , the rejection letter doesn't mention this.
I did a Gold Bond place last year but don't feel able to deal with the stress of trying to raise £1500 again, so will have to rethink next years big target, maybe another marathon at home or abroad.

Nah, mine's definitely the right size - the fit round the chest is perfect, very snug; just the sleeve and torso length is quite generous.

I only picked mine up yesterday, and like quite a few people I was disappointed that the small is actually massive. Then the cat decided it would make a good bed, and whilst I was out proceeded to sleep on it for about 4 hours, then the husband pinched it and is wearing it to work today - the cheek of it!

My fleece is medium, is warm and comfy, and apart from the fact that the sleeves are 4" longer than my arms (I'm a short person), it's great. The generous body length means I can wear it as a dressing gown so I don't frighten the neighbours. Don't think I'll wear it to work though...

Brian, there are plenty of charities out there asking for less than 1500, just try the smaller lesser known ones. 800 - 1000 seems to be the norm, I KNOW its still hard work, but not quite so bad!

My medium is enormous, but I like to wear it over my pyjamas in the evening when I'm reading email etc. It's very snuggly for that

A couple of years ago I remember sending off my cheque for the FLM and I seem to remember that if you bequeathed it you got a t-shirt which read "I've been rejected for the London Marathon" on the back I think. I remember thinking, great, you won't me to bequeath, but why the hell do I need something to tell everyone else I've been rejected. Needless to say, I didn't bequeath, and of course, I didn't get it.

Got my fleece this morning... I'm sure yours is on its way to you. And when it arrives, you'll probably see what we mean. I think mine will come in handy after the Marathon - for changing underneath... Don't get me wrong, I'm still grateful. Its a good quality dress!

There isn't a fleece for getting in. They go to people who were rejected in the ballot, but chose to beqeath what would otherwise have been their entry fee to charity.

I don't know what proportion of entry fees goes to charity, though.

There may be some confusion as a result of Amy's comment. I also have a fleece from being rejected in the ballot, but will be running FLM on a Gold Bond place, so it is possible to be a reject and also a runner.

Got my fleece last week - small - and it's huge! At least size 14-16 if you ask me - and I'm a size 10! Compared it to my husband's (which arrived the week before). His 'large' is only a fraction bigger!? Have washed and put mine thorough the tumble dryer hoping it will shrink – no luck. Typical! Thinking of giving it to my mum as an extra xmas pressie as it'll probably fit her just right!

I think an XXS option would have been a good idea...

Same here. I reckon it's only 'small' relative to a large male, not already small female.

But as I've just got a club place it doesn't seem to matter so much anymore - except I've forked out £46 in total!

I think this person's a lttle bit upset at not getting in. Good idea though especially when you consider the sizings are all pretty wierd.
