Great stuff, Bryan. I first started running in Aug03. Converted to midfoot (thanks Pantman!) from Nov03. So I didn't have to "unlearn" much but it still took me a good 6 weeks to get my weekly mileage back to where it was and perhaps another 4 weeks on top after which I felt confident in entering a few races. Best of luck, mate!
TmR - it took me nearly 2 months to go from a couple of 1.5 mile runs per week to running 4-6 miles 5 times a week. I'm currently up to around 35-40 miles per week.
Thanks. i suppose I'll have to see how it goes. I was hoping to be back to c. 60-70 mpw within 4 weeks of the injury being completely OK, but that sounds too quick if it all going to be midfoot. Though may be able to do short doubles eg 2x 30 mins /day. Or break the running down into say 10 min intervals with walk recovery, more to let the calves settle than the pulse rate!
nrg-b - I find the Pumas come up fairly large so go with your normal running shoe size. From what I can tell the black/red ones are the same as my blue ones, i.e. no arch support. BR can probably tell you about the black/orange ones.
SVT: At the FLM Expo I got my feet scanned at the Asic stand. Both feet are exactly same length and same width down to the millimetre. UK size 8.5 and width 2E. Pressure reading was equal everywhere. I wear NB150 size 9.5 because of my wide-paddle-like duck feet (yes, I will be doing triathlons in a few years).
Do you reckon PumaH UK size 9 will be right for me ie width-wise as compared to the NB150s?? Many thanks!
I tried the 150s without insoles yesterday - much better fit, but I ended up with a blister on my instep. I'll have to try them again and see if it's a recurring problem.
nrg-b - I've got fairly wide feet too. I find the Pumas in 10 are a little long but perfect for width. And I take a 9-9.5 in regular shoes, 10 in most running shoes and 10.5 in 150s.
hi nrg-b - probably worth dropping into a local trendy shoe shop where they'll have some & try them on there. You may find them narrow if you have wide feet.
nrg-b - I wear 150's in size 9.5 with the insole taken out, and H-Streets in size 9. The upper on the H-streets is so thin and stretchy that to have them a bit small is no big deal
Dave Lyne: Excellent, thanks for that. Have ordered a few pairs of black/red and black/orange from Schu Shop at £20/pair.
Question: The black/red are known as Puma H-Street whereas the black/orange are labelled as Puma H-Street II. Is there a difference or is it simply a marketing ploy due to a different color combo?
nrg-b - the only difference I've found is on the white and red ones, which have leather for the tongues and the bit at the front instead of the lighter fabric.
Went to the huge JJB sports outta town and there were no puma h-streets to be seen. guess they're not for chav's but had assumed for some reason they'd be widely available.
John Douglas: Maybe they're going out of production?? I bought mine from SchuStore in their £20 sales bargain section. The do have branches around the country.

Aiming for 3 miles 3 times a week for the next 3 weeks (that's a lot fo threes!) and will aim to do something else in-between to keep up teh fitness.
You may want to do some calf stretches in those walk breaks.
Please remember to stretch both both muscles in each calf
Calves a little sore, but not as sore as they were last time! :-)
I can only get hold of the black/orange or black/red ones with fabric upper - any ideas on whether these are the minimum weight ones?
Or flip flops and blu-tacking them to your heels?!
Hicham El Guerrouj and Paula wear Nikes, don't they (what model?)
Any others?

Chaos: Longtime no speak. Congrats on the sub-3 FLM. Do you fancy re-starting the Pose sessions at St James Park?

Running wise, just the same as the other colours.
But you support Hull, BR... ;-)
just about to order my nb150's when i finally decide what size to get.

NRG-b: don't suppose you've ever bought any other brand of NB's in 2E?
