I wonder if its possible to split the general forum into:
1. General running and fitness.
2. General waffle about absolutely nothing.
Could we also have an "anti-hijack" button on threads so that when you start a new thread you can click the button and it stops potentially interesting threads being polluted with a mass of inane drivel?
I expect not

Hardly running related is it!
TC - I'm surprised you didn't get the ball rolling!!
Although no-one would see my posts again!
Do you like running, that's good. Now what do you want to know?
Maybe start a thread about it rather than baiting us poor bored people.
Regards
TC
I think it is stupid to start a thread about the FLM in General when you have a full thread for FLM, the same for Events, Gear, Injuries, training or Tri/Ultras/and Other type of evenst.
General is for any type of chat because forumites have decided to do so.
Make it so.
BTW, nice to see you posting and hope you're now over your knee injuries and back running!
It might be completely relevant in a six degrees of separation kinda way (unless it's posted by Jon or 10p of course).
:-D
So. Lisa Maffia vs Kirsty Gallacher. Will they actually be fighting in The Games?
It wouldn't take a programming genius to fence off an area for chat, on the other hand - Martin's actual point. Whether people would sabotage it is another question.
Foo Bar I left your thread when you asked me to but I shall follow your progress with interest. Just because you couldn't answer a simple question is hardly my fault now is it?
1. Peeps like Martin that only want sensible stuff and facts
2. The rest of us that have a bit of 'banter' and include sensible stuff and facts along the way.
If it was a forum along the lines of no.1 though - only the hardcore dedicated r*nners would be here, so the knowledge database would be much smaller.
I'm happy with the current option - I can get sensible answers from anyone on here.
Can't see the thread hijack thing working though - it's like a normal conversation - things going off at a tangent - and that can be the most informative part.
The comment is not that there shouldn't be a forum for the inane and the banal just that its supremely annoying wading through the dross to get to the interesting stuff so put it in a separate forum.
RW forums makes money from site advertising. They make more money from a site that has a sense of community and registered users that return to the site.
The RW forum are probably the envy of many a publication / product / organisation.
To lay down hard and fast rules about what you could post and where would destroy the community that is the RW forums.
Yes there would be less threads like
"I've just had a large poo"
but there would also be less users, less interest, less valuable content and probably even more adverts / pop-ups etc.
If you don't like it, be more selctive or post on another forum.
Yours
