Return of the stretch

Here is a question for all you seasoned runners ! When I go out for a run I start off with a gentle run to warm up then I do a few stretches, I have noticed that straight after the stretch ( in the first few metres of my run ) my stride increases and I feel "boingy" . Do you think that this is psychological or is it something to do with the way muscles work ?


  • In my wiew it's because the muscles are warmed up & ready for action.
    I work outside all day so by the time I get home my muscles are pretty warmed up. I then have a bath [to get clean] then I stretch & go for my run. The warm bath warms up my muscles as well.
    It sounds to me as if what your doing works so does it matter if it's psychological or not!
