  • Night everyone,

I'm off home to take a sledge hammer to the rest of my kitchen and artex the cieling. I can't wait.
  • speedy - umm I know 2 other women like you
(I am so looking forward to being a grand-dad, even though they are only 6&9 at the moment! - revenge will be mine!)
    :-)

I had a friend who's kids never slept at night. After 4 years without an unbroken night they left them with his parents for the night and went to a local hotel for a sleep. Neither sets of parents had any sympathy as aparently they'd both been like that themselves as kids.

6 and 9 that is the age of my grandchildren and how I like giving them noisy toys for birthdays and christmas. The only trouble was that when they were younger and I had them for a weekend their parents used to send them to me with a bag of noisy toys to keep them happy. Number 3 grandchild on the way in March but won't see too much of this one as I can't spend every weekend travelling down to Blackpool. I'd get no running done. So it will be a case of he noisy toys as presents again.
4 years of no sleep heaven forbid. Glad my kids were good sleepers.
Well all must go as I need to make some dinner before we starve - fat chance of that.
    Catch you all later.
    Bye

  • Night, Tulips.

Our variation of the popcorn fight is more likely to be:

    Tinkerbell: "Waaaaaah! Waaaaaah! Sniffle."
    Mum: "What is is, Jinglebells?"
Tinkerbell: "Don't call me Jinglebells. Kevin has taken my popcorn maker and she says I can't have it back."
    Angelmouse: "It's true."
Ivor: "Waaaaaah! I hate her. I wish she was dead. I want her out of this family. She's a big poo."
Kevin: "Well, it serves him right. He bit me. Look!" >>>Shows invisible wound<<<
    Mum: "And?"
Ivor: "She did this!" >>>Holds his severed forearm up in the air<<<
    Mum: "Why?"
Ivor: "She said she was going to break our popcorn maker."
Kevin: "I was trying to read and they were talking about popping corn. And they NEVER wash their hands after going to the loo. And Angelmouse has peed herself again."
Mum: "Kevin, couldn't you read in your study?"
    Kevin: >>>Snorts derisively<<<
Mum: "KEVIN! Bring that popcorn maker here AT ONCE and IN ONE PIECE or I shall thump the living daylights out of you. GO! NOW!
    >>>Kevin flies up the stairs, returns, throws popcorn maker at siblings, and flies back upstairs with broomstick-wielding mother in pursuit<<<
  • V-rap
before I go make dinner maybe it wouldn't be a good idea then to buy the popcorn maker after all. But then again Christmas is meant to be entertaining!! Sorry
    Bye for now everyone.
  • My parents love giving my kids toys that make mindless noises at the flick of a switch. For some reason, we NEVER seem to be able to find batteries when the children want to play with them.

My mother used to tell me that she hoped one day I'd have a daughter as difficult as I was so that I'd understand how bad her life had been with me. That's probably why I've got Kevin.
  • Vrap, beware, My mother broke her wrist hitting brother No1 with broom handle.
  • It's OK, JJ, I was just planning to poke Kevin's eyes out with the bristles.

Tulip. Seeing as it's late and no-one will ever read this, I used to keep ferrets. But now I want a whiooet
  • Hi All

Glad to see that everybody seems well and in good humour.

Dublin was fantastic and absolute carnage in terms of food and drink.
Managed to pick up cold/cough at the end of the weekend and still haven't got rid of them.

Last run was last Thursday. Will get out again before the end of this week.

On the parenting/being a child front, I can't now believe how rude my brother and I were. We used to insist on listening to Radio1 in the car. Now realise it must have been hell for the parents.
Have good intention of listenting to what I want in the car but first gotta get married and then have kids.

Glenn: its not too late and I have read it. Would be interested to hear how you get hold of a whiooet?

    Best
    Sam
  • When I was younger, I carefully avoided the "My little brother's your favourite!! You always side with him!!!!" temptation, reasoning that I was always seeing people on TV and in books that did that wholly unfairly.

With the benefit of hindsight, fifteen or so years later: HE WAS my mum's favourite (tho my dad was pretty impartial) and she DID almost always side with him. And now I realise she still does. (He was always the 'cute' one you see .. used to flutter those eyelashes and get away with absolute bloody murder!)

I don't mind on my brother's part - I'd probably have milked it for all it was worth too! - but it definitely made me think a bit less of my mother when I realised the truth at about age 20 or so, I'm sorry to say. :)
  • mmm 'squiet tonite - everyone partying or chrimbo shopping - been into Manchester today and went to the european market - had hot gluewein - blueberry mmm and hot roasted chestnuts and bought some spicy leberkuchen (love cookies i ythink!) - lovely and christmassy and so much much nicer than english markets - lots of wursts and sauerkraut things and marzipan and spices and stollen and things

then trolled around Selfridges bitchin about the mens fashion assisstants with my mate Jules and pretenting that i knew my Versace from my DKNY - and that i could afford it

then had the equivalent of an orgy - a wander round the food hall - eurogastroporn mwah! Nigella would have been at home there with the 85%lindt and Prestat and Charbonnel and Walker choclate - double mwah!

then ended the evening in starbucks - ofcourse!
  • hello Bune, at last someone's about! :) But why is it that nobody from the board who comes into Manchester shopping ever tells me!! maybe i smell :(;)

which Satan-bucks did you end up the drone-like puppet of in the end? ;)

(i don't really like starbucks. costa is better ;) )

Seriously the food hall is yum! :D
  • opposite the printworks - for a skinny gingerbread latte!

have you been to the european market in albert or st annes square - its good - hot gluewein is anyway!

    hi btw!
  • no i'm not, half an hour to go yet. doh! :)
  • you finished uni or work for chrimbo yet Psi?
  • Yes I have. they always serve up gluwein at work anyway at our work xmas parties, and have big urns of it after so you can help yourself :)

Opposite the printworks? Oh you mean the one next to Urbis! I don't really like Starbucks but I'm a regular in the Costa that's in Waterstone's on Deansgate .. read and sup! :)
  • finished work yeah, uni in 2 days :)
  • mmm - discovered that Costa recently - i do like Costa for the italian goodies - biscotti and mini pannetone - but coffe is a bit strong for me - being a wimp!

    btw where is everyone?
  • I think there should be a 'bucks or costa opened in the village - as theres nowhere to chillout and drink coffee and read - apart from spirit - but id rather be in a coffe shop than a bar these days - getting old!

i discovered the big Borders book and music store out at cheshire oaks when i woked in chester and used to love mooching around there and in the cafe til late - theres one in stockport now!
  • actaully im so sad that i thought Borders ould be a wonderful place for a date! and maybe Selfridges foodhall too - think im very out of practice!
  • well the vllage is sort of an area of bars and pubs. not a gated community ;) you can always LEAVE it to get a coffee! shocking thought ;);) lol! but of course i can't talk, cos if i was there, i'd be prevented by the fact i wouldn't be a@$ed to move ;)

oh dear re: date! mind you i haven't had one for a bit, my last few g/fs I sort of got by chance and I haven't been on once since I split with last g/f in summer! i've forgotten the basics i think :) lol!
  • i think the Costa/bucks in the village idea is so the cliental will be interesting! ;-))

objet d'amour loves Waterstones - so maybe Borders wouldnt be so bad!
  • ooh .. now I really AM off to watch 2DTV!

speak later :) (well in about half an hour!)
  • Hiya Pixie!

hope you had a great time! back to nice temperatures here!
