Ha! Glenn you're lucky you didn't say leeds. No, really I think hate is too stong. All is forgotten so long as there's a large G&T or pint of lovely northern bitter waiting for me at the old folks home next week.
How was siberia? I have always fancied going across on the train.
Have a G&T *and* a pint Tulips. Always have believed in mixing drinks.
Siberia was brilliant (at least the bit I was in - there's an awful lot of it). In spring it's warm with mediterranean blue skys and good street life in the cities. Winters are v cold but not at all damp and you still get the blue skies. Beautiful when it snows, especially at night.
Well, just as I pop along, everyone's gone for lunch.
Glenn, I like sprouts too and I grow them in my veggie patch along with cabbages, broccoli and lots of other smelly things. Yum, yum, yum. Obviously, I don't let mum eat too many of them!
EP, sorry you didn't get into FLM. Never mind, you'll be even better prepared for 2004.
Tulips, hoorah, another redhead to run with.
Hubby isn't busy today so he's agreed to come and chaperone me whilst I have a run up on the Farthing Downs in the sunshine. Perfect.
Chimp, the sad thing is that the answers yes. I've completely lost control of my sprout thread on the unofficial forum. Last time I dared look Badger and Barkles were getting engaged and H was making them a celebratory sprout souffle.
It's like raising children. They start off cute but you soon realise what hell spawn they really are and they won't do what you tell them any more.
In all seriousness pixlie life's a lot more interesting that way. I always like to try new things, especially distinctive flavours. The point about the herrings is that the ones you get here are nearly always in vinegar, whereas I (and the other half) like them continental style in brine.

BTW, in case you think it's a wind up, I always have liked them - my favourite veggies as a child.
