Can anyone comment on this as a possible first timers marathon? I can't find much in the way of reviews.
It sounds interesting but what about the course - is it flat? Are there lots of toilets? What about drink stations and the like?
Have heard good things about the city and thought this might be a good way to see it and do first marathon.

I like the look of this one too and echo your initial questions. Anyone got any answers?
I'd heard good reports too, training programme to start early September, so La Rochelle here I come.
Hi Rach, u keeping well?
Re the course, well I seem to remember La Rochelle is flat (20 years ago), and yep a nice place.
And toilets? Bound to be loads, dont worry Hilly and Daisy, these are just details, get your entry in.
I'll try to find the article and will report back with which issue it was.
Go for it!
Bonne chance.
A training friend was raving about La Rochelle the other day. I'm really tempted to do it now...
Looking forward to this. Are you still up for it Neil? Any more takers???
How's your training going and what time are you hoping for next month? I'm starting to feel pretty knackered having done several races in the La R build-up. It will be a relief to get this last long run out of the way and get onto taper. Hoping to go sub 4:30..
Anyway, there are a few of us doing this so keep in touch/e-mail me if you fancy meeting up for the expo, some pasta on Saturday, post race celebratory drinks or whatever.
Glad I'm not the only one feeling tired, the training's just starting to take its toll on my body. Roll on taper next week.
Last 3.5 hour run tomorrow... yippee!!
Up for meeting up before hand though at the expo - am booked in for the past party too. My belly is gurgling in anticipation of all those carbs...
You got mail!
Sub 3.30 sounds fantastic! I can only dream of that.....
Hope your injury improves before the big day.
Can't wait for the end of Nov to come around - wasn't ready for the Abingdon Marathon a couple of weekends ago so helped out with the marshalling instead. Felt dead jealous of all those people running past me. Still not long to go now.
Rach
I slightly early but heartfelt 'good luck' for race-day. Have a brilliant day.
Hope all the training has been going well for everyone - I guess it's "taper time" now! Yipee!
Anyone know if La Rochelle has been affected by the latest troubles in France?
I was hoping to find you on this site.
How did the long run go? Bet you are relieved to have it over with!
I WISH I was doing this with you!!
Hi to all my other buddies out there who may be lurking. Happily relocated to Oz now, but definitely missing all those fun french races.
Good luck everyone
Did 20 miles ten days ago without too much trouble. Fingers crossed it goes that well on the day! Well into taper now and quite enjoying it although I anticipate getting the fidgets by next week! Very excited about this race. Think it could go well for me if only the weather is on our side!
Was lovely to get your email and I shall reply when I have some time - work is sooo busy these days...
Tim - thanks for your kind wishes. Keep your fingers crossed won't you?!
As far as the rioting goes, I don't believe that La Rochelle suffered. Anyway, things seem to be calming down now thank goodness.
Getting really excited now!!!!
Rach
Of course I will, but you'll do fine.
Despite no longer feeling comfortable posting on the Paris website, I still keep in touch with what you're all doing.
And you're doing great!
Take care
Tim
Are you all meeting up somewhere?
I am flying over there with Ryanair saturday 26th.
Bonne chance a tous
Have developed a pain on my shin - I've a history of shin problems but this is a new one on me - tender to touch too (never had that before). Occurred after a slow run late last week and have made it even worse with a very slow 9 miler yesterday.
Looks like I'll be a supporter on Sunday instead. Only hope is that I bruised it somehow and that resting it until sunday will miraculously restore it to normal.
Walking is still uncomfortable at the moment.
B*gg*r!
Hope it gets better real soon!
Walking is a lot more comfortable today. Shin is still a little tender - if it keeps healing at this rate - I may make it to the start line and see how it goes from there...
