nothing more to tell, mate , as the lady said, we got separated.
final good luck to all those participating - I'll be thinking of you imbibing those flagons of Bordeaux at the roadside when I'm tucking in to me rosebif.
Take my eyes off this place for a few hours and it goes mad!
Good luck everyone, especially Rach! I hope Guy will be keeping me informed throughout the morning - watch out Guy, you can expect to cover a large amount of miles supporting a marathon!
Indeed, good luck to all (maybe I'll see some of you there)
Been to see doc - he reckoned it was a muscle tear - sent me for an x-ray anyway and nothing showed up on that, so fingers crossed I wont be out of commission for too long.
a last minute "Bonne chance" to everyone from Blighty, even though you will now be an hour into it - let's have those stories (but God forbid not any split times) bright and early on Monday.
Yes, we did have superb weather Snaps. It was a fab race all round.... we were only on 'chocolat chaud' in the bar though... honest!
It was great to meet up with Rach and Guy W. Hope you had a safe journey home. A reminder for Guy W though - Texan Bars - need I say more?
Took in a few more of the sights (including the aquarium) in La Rochelle this morning before leaving for home. Just arrived back and ready to rest my weary and aching body in bed!
Ht the tarmac at Stansted this afternoon having been up in the clouds since crossing the finish line yesterday having claimed a new PB nd finally broken 3 hours, only just but I'll take that. p.s. I'd thoroughly recommend this marathon to anyone; imagine the FLM but on a smaller scale & you've got La Rochelle.
Great times all round it seems. I was a few minutes outside my hoped for sub 4.30 but a huge pb for me too. Absolutely over the moon about the race, my time, the whole weekend really. Agree with Ajax that it's a fantastic race. Everyone was so friendly ('cept certain waiters eh Guy?!) and the crowd support coming through half way and especially at the end was just the best. Still get goosebumps thinking about it now!! Will def go back and do it again at some stage.... if I can ever walk comfortably again that is!!!
It WAS a great race, strangely uncommercialised, and a great place to visit - would recommend the free Yellow Bikes to get around town, particularly post race!
Everyone who finished got a basket of oysters! My family werent too keen when I bought mine back for them, how ungrateful!Mind you I tried one - didnt make me feel very randy, just ill! Salty snot!
And I cant praise the post finish medical support high enough! The rub down was almost worth collapsing for! Thanks Veronique x
I had a good w/e too. Sorry didn't get to meet you all but that's the way it goes sometimes (I blame Ryanair...)
Cetainly got my moneys worth out of the pasta party though. After that episode I'm glad I didn't have to run the next morning!!
Was absolutly freezing watching the event! ps Rach that was me around the 9km mark (if you can remember)- god only knows how I managed to spot your name on your race number in amongst the crowds!!
Congradulations to all of you. Unfortunately I got flu symptoms on the Friday night, I flew to La Rochelle, didnt sleep for two nights, I started the run but I soon realised my body wasnt happy, I got stuck on the 23rd km, I had to pull out then.that was the end of my adventure...I am annoyed, disappointed.C'est la vie....
Oh dear tiger2. I didn't pack my trainers so I wouldn't be tempted to try and run! (And it worked too - I was wishing I'd packed them in the morning and glad I hadn't by the afternoon!)
Looked for you in the airport but the only red wind-jacket I saw turned out to be someone else (but that was cool - spent the weekend hanging with them!)
Outfoxed!!! Did my usual "skinflint" tac-tic of visiting the official photographer's web-site, downloading my pictures and printing them off thus saving myself an extortionate amount of money. However, the piccies were quite distorted. Is this a method of preventing me from benefitting from my aforementioned action and actually cough-up or would they still be distorted even if I was to part with my hard earned cash and buy them?
Hi moooog, sorry i didn't wear my red jacket, It was packed in my travelling bag.I felt rough at the airport and I didn't want to give you the flu.I hope to meet you all soon.my dossard number was 3071.don't laugh at th picture,I look like a tramp! What's yours Rach? anyone fancy Brighton Half marathon?

Well done all!
Glad you had a good time. You'll have to run it next year though. It was (mostly) a lot of fun!
Back in Blighty again and back to work A big well done to you all and was good to see some of you afterwards.
Moog and Tiger2, sorry to hear things didn't go as well as anticipated. Next year huh?
Daisy D. I made you a promise, so check this site out: Hmmm, Texan Bars Rach has been merrily munching on them for days now!! )
BTW Results now on marathon website.
