i can't believe nobody's cracked and done a race report yet. it must be because the interweb costs 1 franc for 5 minutes, and the z key is in the wrong place
"Remember the guy who cycled from Embra to Fort William then ran the marathon? Well, he just did a 10:48 FIRST Ironman. And of the 25-ish that went, nearly all of them finished, and there were lots who were doing their first ironman too. And they were all wearing the yellow and black pirate suits.
Nessie - a few swimming lessons and you'd be sorted. I'm sure some of the lot who've just done it couldn't swim a year ago.... If you can swim well enough to do the mid argyll tri then you'll be fine - just practice.
I meant he knew that I was planting the seeds.......
Personally, I think being able to run the whole way for a marathon *without* having swum and biked before hand would be the crucial factor for me to even think about training for an Ironman.
Have to say seeing nearly everyone ocmplete the course this year has been a real inspiration. I thought less than half would make it around - how wrong was I!
Goes to show what great support and knowledge is available via this forum all year round. Also shows what a force the PSOF's is when it sails into these events. Great stuff, i really must start reaquanting myself with swimming. Am planning to plod slowly round a marathon in april now.
Just scanned through the whole thread and have to say it brings back a lot of emotion.
Thank you all for the tremendous support.
Had a fantastic day, one of the most amazing days of my life and a rollercoaster of emotions. Im flying back in a few hours and will post more on my return including a full race report etc.
Big big congratulations to everyone here, supporters included who did a fantastic job, there efforts genuinely made the difference of me finishing.
I did win the best newcomer trophy which im very pleased about but also humbled and slightly embarrassed as all those here deserved it as much if not more than me. Think the criteria of having the pi$$ taken out of me clinched it
I still feel like running round the hostel shouting YYYYEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Every one of you deserved a medal - oh. erm - well, a paper hat or something.
)
Wabbit, when zou were asking about me last night I was alternately asleep on the table, on the nearest Ironshoulder, or opening one eye enough to be thrashed at arm-wrestling by candy, which was understandable coz he`s a blerk, and then bz Lindi - but that`s ok coz she`s made of Iron.
I am soooooooo shattered. Slept all night, though, for the first time in months. Onlz woken bz Avalaf knocking on the door at 8.45 to get his bike box. So my Li`l Miss Naughty pyjamas have been seen to be real. ;o)
I suppose I`d better go the airport soon.
But I did want to saz a huuuuuuuuuuuge thank you to each and every one of zou for zour support of the supporters. It was FECKIN hot out there. xxxx

Can't believe TC beat a friend of mine who's done sub-3 marathons, the etape du tour and so on.
My hat goes off to the man.
(Well it would if I had one, I'll have to suffice with putting my bike helmet on and off.)

Also did any of you spot/meet runner 746, Steve Home, who came in a few places behind TC? English bloke, dark hair, not sure what sort of bike.
