Glad to hear your run went well. Pity we couldnt meet though,maybe next time. Do you have any races planned?
I had a good run,finished in 1:46 which is about 10 minutes off my PB,but did get a silver medal
That course is very undulating and definitely not PB material. I really enjoyed the race and was surprised at how well organised it was. I will definitely run it again next year. Erm....that is if I can walk after Comrades.
Mrs. Portaloo did the 10K in 60 minutes. She only started running 3 weeks ago and havent done anything over 5K.
knees were ok had a couple of good climbs but only one small down so I think that helped
Grant,have you done this marathon before? I did a search and found some pretty negative remarks about this marathon on Runners World SA.
People were complaining about the lack of water tables,mile markers etc. The results were not even published on raceresults.co.za Which according to the people posting on that forum was no surprise at all judging by the way the race itself was organised.

It was COLD this morning. Did a brisk 5 miles at 05:00 and nearly froze my buns off.

Hello Slow Duck. My mental scars are worse then my physical ones but I'm slowly getting back to normal.
At the moment I am running for 2 days resting and repeat(sometimes 2 days off)Doing a lot of cycling and have increased my weight training.
No mental scars at all, concerns with the knee but.... will just wait and see

I am doing a 6M run tomorrow and planning an 18 mile run for Sunday. Furthest I have ever gone,so hold thumbs.
My aim is to get my long run up to 20 miles and do one every second weekend.
Grant,I am going to give that Marathon in October a miss. I am toying with the idea of entering the RAC Tough One in November instead.
My running mate, with whom I've started 4 Comrades, has also suffered like you...
After 7 successful runs, just like you this year, he completed the course but ran out of time on his eigth in 2001. He then took a year out. In 2003 he was back but he (unwisely) ran when he was really ill and only made it to half way. He's not been back since but recently he has starting thinking about coming back in 2007...(he says he is only waiting for me to get to 7 finishes so that we can do the last 3 together...)
He is one of the mentally toughest blokes I know so I can only speculate as to how hard it is for anyone to come back after running out of time...
So kudos to you for even thinking about 2007 so soon after this year's run.
