Did a hilly 18 miles in 2:29 on Saturday. Comrades qualification = standard marathon in under 5 hours. Judging by my run on Saturday I am well on track.
I can only dream of a sub 1:29 HM Gobi ) What is your best time for the standard marathon?
I have a similar strategy. I am doing a weekly run of 2 to 2.5 hours, hoping that it will be easier to take it from there than starting from 10 or 15K in December. I want to get my body used to running for longer periods.
Funny that, this is supposed to be my speed work month, but still running 90K weeks with a long run of about 25K most weekends... Well I do have two marathons in October! Happy running guys
Doing Comrades and getting injured has not put me off running. Infact has made me more determined and I plan to run faster next year so that means all running will be done faster a system Istarted 11 days after comrades
Well done Gobi! I also did a 40 mile week and felt it in the race. I am sure you are capable of an even faster time should you taper properly. You will sort Comrades out in 2006!
Struggled yesterday, finished in 1:41 or so. Waiting for the official result. I have been feeling a bit weak since Thursday. Will take it easy this week.
I did all my mileage Monday through Wednesday. Rested Thursday ran really slow 5 miler with a friend friday and rested again on saturday I felt very rested
after the race I ran back out and did a 4.5 mile recovery run as my friend was running and is a little slower than I am.
I plan to be very comrades ready next year but then I thought I was this year. Injuries are a pain
Gobi,I am also doing another half next Saturday 27th August. This one is hilly and definitely not PB material. The race is called "Om die Berg" I will leave you to figure it out )

Anything under 1:40 will bring a smile to my face.
You?
I'm gonna attempt sub 1:29
I can run sub 1:36 without trying but have not actually attempted to race a half marathon for a long time.
Not convinced I have the leg speed :¬(
