Race Pack has fallen onto my door mat this morning #5503. I hope that everyone is feeling up for this one now.
  • Excellent one Wrinty. How are you feeling?
    I'm definitely on the mend.
I was down in deepest darkest Dorset this week and had a Time Trial with Hilly's club. Let's rephrase that, a head to head race. She's flying.

I'm convinced that she'll be out for revenge a week Sunday.
  • Wrinty,
My race pack has arrived also so we may finally meet?
  • WrintyWrinty ✭✭✭
Got my caricature sent over from Katie this morning, I definatley look leaner and meaner in B&W (I might even use it as my RW avitar).
  • hi there is anybody still waiting for their rece packs not yet recieved mine bit concerned my number #7266#,my two running partners #7457 and #7458 have not arrived either all to the same address?
  • BD has his number.

Are we meeting up before the race?
  • I think we've got a meet up on hill in the Rec ground by the bogs/ bandstand

It must be time for a list:
    forum name/real name/race number/target time

  • Have you seen the course has changes this year. I've criticised the course in the past, but this now looks a lot nicer to run. Dropped out the horrid section through Locksbrook and it looks like the small loop around sainsburys has gone. It has added a section around queens square on both laps I think.

This looks ten to twenty seconds faster to me as I always lose time running down the hill through rudmore park.

Looks like the start area may change which worries me as I usually warm up in the road in front the start...

Week to go, good luck everyone with your taper!

  • If its quicker and nicer than it has been previously then thats fine with me!
Did 1:24:00 in Brissol so looking at a 1 second improvement!!??

Looks like our own little 1:23 pacing group is forming here then, Blisters & Wig.
  • Sure does Wrinty, only it will be the first time under 1:24 for me so I'm hopeful rather than confident. I've been training for London and so Bath will just be a measure for me this year. I did the Gloucester 20 last week and pb in Bourton on the Water the week before so things are looking on track.....famous last words!

  • Perhaps I should style myself as "The Kentish Raider", but I've updated this in case anyone spots me!

    Wig/#8927/Target 1:23

For me this represents an improvement of about 45 seconds on last year, but will still be 2 minutes down on my PB (also achieved on this course).
  • My first half so PB guaranteed - hooray :o) Really looking forward to this race.

  • Guys - the entry magazine mentions pace groups for the half mara. Any ideas on what paces?

    Looking forward to the weekend.

    Thanks.
  • Many years ago they had pace groups (runners world with flags) for 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, don't know about times before and after those. However in recent years I haven't seen any.
  • WrintyWrinty ✭✭✭
I was one of the RW Pacers in 2004 for the 1:30 group - haven't heard any mention of them since at Bath.
  • The weather forecast is not looking too good at the moment with fairly strong winds predicted. If it's from the East it's going to be right in your face all the way back along the Lower Bristol Road. Twice. :o(
  • Bath does have the advantage that it is a bit sheltered by the local terrain. The forecast wind is 15kt from the NE, with temperatures similar to today. Obviously they will change the forcast right until it becomes an aftercast. They are similar, but slightly more accurate.

At least it looks dry. :-)

I'm hoping for rather than expecting 1:23......my pb is 1:26.
  • > Bath does have the advantage that it is > a bit sheltered by the local terrain

I train most nights round lower/upper bristol road it has been a bit windy of late. Just choose someone big to run behind...
  • AE - That's what I was planning on doing ;o) Any of you out there doing it who are 6'4" and built like a brick outhouse? (and aiming for 1.30)...

Seriously though I cycled down the Lower Bristol Road back into Bath the other week into the teeth of a fairly strong wind and it was like trying to cycle through treacle.
  • I've never been able to understand how the wind hits me in the face as I run along Upper bristol road to Newbridge, in the face while I run from the boathouse pub to the a4 traffic lights... then still in my face as I run down lower bristol road.

    Its the bath triangle!
  • Bl00dy hell, peeps, 3 days to go and this thread has been relegated to page 3... are pre-race nerves generating this uncharacteristic reticence?
