OK, how I managed to volunteer myself again for this I really don't know.
For those who don't know, it's a 100km route along the south downs way. It's for teams of 4 people, and is specifically a fund raising event for Oxfam, so entry fees are high (minimum pledge of £1000 per team of 4) so sponsorship is pretty much essential unless you've got deep pockets.
There's a time limit of 24 hours if you want a medal, the winners will be finished in about ten and a bit hours.
We first tried this in 2003, and most of us failed miserably due to appalling weather. Well, I failed, and have been miserable ever since.
There have been more successful forum attempts in '04 and '05, and now it's time I got my act together and had another crack at it.
Team one, so far....
Me,
Pixie
Running duck
one other ...Vrap, Glenn, Nick... all strongly denyimg any interest at all, but we know better.

my 2005 blisters have all healed up
... or, you got 2005 blisters. And the last one has just healed..
... and not the psycho teams of Gurkhas, and those bloody bagpipes at the start...
... and the rain, and the hills, and the inevitability of blisters, and the way your hips have totally seized by the 60 km point....
I'm really starting to look forward to this!
Other than that, I would join in anywhere there is a space!
My main memory of TW 2003 (apart from the fact that my legs had siezed and I was p!ssed off about not finishing) was the nightime walk where it was very foggy and all you could see were streams of lights from the head torches. Surreal.
If you do, ask them to show you some juggling tricks
I've completed this twice now and, knowing what I know now, I'm confident that I could complete even if the weather conditions of 2003 were repeated. For me, it's NOT personal and there is no longer any dragon to be slain, so I'm not
...prepared to do TW2006 just with the aim of finishing.
But I WOULD be delighted to run/walk it with a team aiming for a time in the region of 19hrs 59mins )
BUT Pixie and duck have first refusal on me accompanying them, and I don't think they'd be up for a sub-20 attempt.
Unless I'm wrong?
I may be able to scrape to gether a couple of fell/ultra runners mind... I supported someone on two Bob Graham attempts this year, and after we helped her off Yewbarrow the second time she did say 'I really appreciate this, if you need a favour then call me, no, really...'
however, I won't leave the ladies in the lurch for a team member.
<runs off screaming 'oh no what have I done?'>
I could have a bash at sub 20...
<sneaks away praying no-one's heard her>
I live in South Wales BTW

Have you still got all your fingers and toes after the chainsaw delivery??
I am due to do a 22 mile cliff path walk in a few weeks - it is pretty tough terrain, especially at the beginning. I have done it before, but have not been after any particular time, I will let you know how I get on.
