Intercostal muscle pain

Just wondering if any docs can shed light on my chest pain. Its definitely intercostal as doc has checked last week and says I have had a CoxB viral infection. Not other symptoms and have been able to train to a degree. Thought it had gone away, but it seems to have resurfaced with a vengence today and its been 3 weeks. Could not run this morning and it hurts on every deep breath. Have rung docs but he hasn't called back yet. Is this normal? My husband has been ill too with upset tummy and sore throat which can also be caused by Cox B can't it?
