Have had my forerunner 201 for just over a year..
Have bought a new pc, downloaded the Garmin foreunner log book, but for some strange reason the new pc doesn't let the logbook find the Garmin.. XP keeps wanting to find drivers for the Garmin..
Had absolutely no problems with the last PC, or with my laptop!
HELP! What am I doing wrong????

Hello again, looking forward to your visit to see Glo?
When i installed on to old PC and Laptop I downloaded the logbook from Garmin. connected the 201 and that was it...
Not this time!! (
Really looking forward to seeing her, however with a small amount of trepidation too.... Never know what she may rope me in to!!
I didnt have a CD with my forerunner. I have an extension lead which converts the serial lead to USB, which is how I have always used the Garmin on the PC, have had no probs til I bought the new PC!!!!
Thanks for your help TB!
Sarcy... don't let this put you off buying a Garmin, they are brill!
Had a reply from Garmin, which was basically of no help whatsoever. They said that if I had any PDA sync programmes on the pc they were blocking the ports..... The ironic thing is, the only pc with a sync programme the Garmin connected to fine...
Shame thats the PC going to PC heaven!!!
Anyone with any other ideas/solutions I would be grateful to hear from you....
(Garmin also said to make sure that I was using a Garmin tm cable)
Good news!!
Sorted the problem, had to get some drivers.... now it works fine!
Happy Tigger...!!!
what drivers?
Some drivers that make the PC see the USB port as a serial port, can copy onto a CD and post if you require them!
Its pure bliss to have the Garmin functioning well again!
Thanks for the offer TB, but I am connecting via the serial port so I think the problem is slightly different.
Looks like I will have to get onto them myself.
Training centre launches a program which cannot find the Garmin on the USB (which is not surprising as its on COM1:).
If you have, take active sync off and then try, that was one of the solutions Garmin offered me.
Are you using the serial cable on its own or a USB/serial converter with it?
