I have a silly suggestion re the FLM: Mick dresses up as Mick and Phil dresses up as Phil and they run it as Mick & Phil, rather than a London bus, a donkey or a banana???
Alan - good idea posting the link. Mick - follow the link (click on it) and it'll take you to RichK's website. He would have een pacing the sub 4 group at Abingdon but picked up an injury a month before. So he "just" came to take photos of forumites :-) His site has loads of photos - you can pick from the lists of events on the home page. All featuring people like us (?)
MickNPhil - RichK is a nice chap. Well worth meeting him. He does so much for the RW forum members. His website is great and I'm sure he has pictures of you two lads on there. Anyway how has your day been? I've been working until ten tonight, reason why I am on here catching up so late. Goodnight all. Speak to you soon.
just a quick question. are blind people allowed to run flm with a guide? If they are [i think they are] then what's the differnce to Phil having his "guide" helping him on the race.
By the way Mick, you'd have made a lovely guide-the brown uniform and woggle would have suited you:)
Pleasure to met you both at Torfaen, hope you enjoyed the welsh hills, good luck this weekend!
My friend, Paul Watts is blind and has been 'led' round London loads of times plus over 100 other Marathons. My chum that works at FLM has asked again but was told 'too dangerous/and not allowed under health and safety. Interesting as I have seen people pushing babies in buggies round marathons! Has anyone else seen this? I will still persue the matter. Another friend used to run London carrying a laddrer over his shoulder. Was that not dangerous? Perhaps we should get a petion up and send it to D Bedford.
Good idea Pam. Mick is no where near as dangerous as some of the stuff that I have seen!! Mick has to be one of the fittest guys around! I think the organisers at FLM will soon change the tune!! Given all the good press MickNPhil get.
I have seen people pushing children around races, but not in a marathon yet... not run the FLM so could not comment on that, but in NY (my first, next week!) they have a special early start for those that are disabled and need extra time/space. Maybe we should get London to do the same. This is the start where blind people that are led and others with helpers will 'run'. It's a separate start from the wheelchair participants that propel themselves.
I was asked to be helper, but as its my very first marathon I wanted a shot at actually running it and getting a medal... besides, raising money for Get Kids Going! So gotto run it!

Yes thanks... email now sent.

OOpps! Wrong conversation!

that baby buggy was Pat Read and his Daughter from headington Road Runners
They are a fantastic family, no health problems, Pat just takes the young one with him
As a matter of fact, it was Pat, who helped encouraged me when i started
He also asked DB
But you see, he's not the only one, none of these others are disabled, and it just bloody well makes thing's harder for me and phil
My Phillip is never going to ne able to run a mile, like other,s let alone run london
Sorry, you lot, your great to us, but it just bloody well makes me boil at times
We could probably run London from the front in around 4.-- 4.20
you all be good
Mick
i mean the person in the chair , proving registered disability
And having done so many runs before as the self propelled have to prove
i think we would qualify, don't you
15 full marathons
Pb, of 4 hours 12 mins
This new chair might even give us 2.05
Well i can dream can't i ahh !!!
